We booked for 1-way Hanoi>Lao Cai VIP Cabin, the process of exchange physical tickets very smooth. The VIP Cabin is very clean, beds are comfortable & air-cond strong. We managed to put our luggage bag underneath our beds. Though the ride was rough & rocky, we managed to hv few hours sleep. Four person cabin is very congested & have problem to store the luggage. Hanoi has 2 railway stations, please go to "Ga Ha Noi" (for trains to the North) located at Tran Quy Cap Street.

The vintage tourist train was a great experience. We can sleep very well and the bed is comfortable enough. We were provided with one small mineral bottle, one cup selection of coffee/tea, one small pack of peanut and a refreshing tissue. We took the night schedule thus cannot really enjoy the scene. I might want to try the morning schedule the next time.
