I think the taxes have gone too far. When nearly $90 is added on top of a room rate, it takes away from the enjoyment of the experience. On top of that, Hotels.com is collecting a commission from some of these taxes, which makes the situation feel even more unreasonable.
Even Las Vegas has recognized this problem and has begun cutting back. At the very least, Florida residents should have some kind of exemption, or property owners shouldn’t be charged the same way when we’re simply taking a vacation in our own state.
These excessive taxes are pushing things past the limit, and it will make me think twice before booking again.
