Used as a quick stop over on the way north so was in and out in under 12 hours. However for the price the room was good had everything i needed. Staff were very helpful and friendly and it was generally really quiet so slept well. Breakfast was okay for a bit of cereal and a coffee did not have anything cooked. No staff at check-in on arrival. Only visible member of staff serving in the bar. Had to wait 5 minutes for her to finish serving. Room okay, have stayed here several times before. Problem getting served in the bar due to lack of staff trying to cover several areas. Food okay but place looking tired and needs more staff. Unlikely to be back.

Grim, bizarre staff sort of falling out with each other. The air con was broken, rooms tatty, quite a depressing place.

I stayed for 3 nights - property was supposed to have air conditioning (this is the middle of July 2026 and in a heatwave. The open areas all had air con, but certain rooms were not working. I was told that the air con was broken and engineers were supposed to be fixing it - no sign of any engineers and had no air con for the entire stay. The staff were all brilliant, but completely run off their feet. 1 person to look after reception and the bar/restaurant most of the time. The chef did not turn up for breakfast on the last day, so not only was the receptionist doing reception and waitressing, but also the cooking. Car parking is also paid for using an online system and cost £7.50 per night (it was free a few years ago). Food is tolerable, but I would advise people to find somewhere else, at least for the evening - The Chequers Inn a short drive away in Ledsham is excellent (if a little more expensive). No room cleaning was done during my stay, but I didn't put a sign out to say "Clean my room" so maybe my mistake. I will only use again if desperate.

We really enjoyed our stay and will likely stay there again when we have a chance and business in the part of England.

Can’t praise the staff enough. Made us feel very welcome and have a great chef. We came to visit family in the area and they were great hosts.

Stayed here during a heatwave (28-30 degrees outside), having specifically searched for a hotel with aircon. But while the downstairs reception area was pleasantly cool, my assigned room was probably 32 degrees or more - completely uninhabitable and incompatible with basic health and safety. Although the room thermostat display was set to 19 degrees it was clearly not working - in fact it seems that the heating was on! Even worse, all the hotel windows are sealed shut, so there was nowhere for the hot air to escape. I was told by the hotel reception night staff (who were in a very difficult position) that several of the rooms had broken air conditioning and sealed windows but had been sold to guests anyway, and that I was not the only person to have complained. Best Western, you should be ashamed about this. Either listen to your staff and customers and fix the air conditioning ASAP, or don’t accept bookings for the rooms. It is not impossible that a young child or someone elderly or with health problems could die as a result of these unsafe conditions. You have been warned. Do the right thing.

No Air con in the rooms. And the windows were sealed shut. If you are looking to stay in the summer, you might want to reconsider. Not enough staff available to serve at the bar and book guests in. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast poor.

Good nights sleep and good location

The staff were incredible, helpful, understanding, informative. The hotel itself whilst on a main road, I had a room at the front and didn't hear a thing! I found the beds to be comfy and the queen room to have exactly what I needed and reasonably priced too! Thank you!

The Hotel was not bad for the price paid. Communal areas were well presented and clean but the rooms were very dated with pealing wallpaper and in much need of a refresh. I probably wouldn’t book in warmer months as the windows in the rooms are sealed shut so not ideal. Although the hotel is on a main road it was very quiet. When we visited the lady on Reception in the afternoon was lovely. However, the young lad who manned both the Reception and the Bar at night could do with not entertaining his friends in the Bar and focusing more on his job. He was quite abrupt and his friends were a bit intimidating.

It was a bed for the night. A little tired! Other residents were extremely noisy till mega late. Virtually no sleep had. Staff were lovely. Very helpful. Breakfast nice but probably would not stay again

Very nice staff, very clean room, nice clean bathroom nice shower over the bath plenty of hot water good water pressure, 2 small bottles of shampoo and body wash and a small bar of soap towels provided. Nice room with desk and chairs the bed was comfortable. Not enough power points to charge your phone/laptop/watch no USB points especially difficult if two people have items to charge at the same time maybe bring an extension lead/plug. Car parking is charged and expensive especially if staying longer than one night, and no conssesions for disabled parking and only one disabled parking space. Hotel is on a busy road but you don't hear the traffic noise in the hotel room. We didn't eat in the hotel as we always ate out and bought a snack back with us to have in the room. Hotel is on a duel carriageway and you have to go up to the roundabout to be able to get back to the hotel as there is no gap to get across to the hotel depending on which way you are travelling to and from the hotel.

Staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. Hotel is pretty tired but was clean and spacious. There is plenty of parking. Absolutely nothing wrong with our stay at all

Good price for booking one day in advance. I would I stay here again? Probably not. Good for one night stop off heading North, but I can’t see it being an ideal location for a short break.

Lovely and friendly staff. Not the poshest hotel or the best location, but quiet and warm. Breakfast good value and other meals reasonable too. Easy access to A1 and M1 and close to J32 Outlet Centre- worth a look. York not too far away . Overall good value for money.
