I have been to this hotel numerous times since the late 70s. Back in the day it was one of my favourite places.
The past few years I've been in Ontario & last time I visited for a few days was in the summer of 2017.
I was thrilled to have a pool side room where we could sit on our deck and walk through the gate to the pool.
Being a completely open air area, we were also allowed to smoke on our balcony.
This time I was quite/very disappointed to see that the lovely gate opening to the pool had now been BOLTED closed
I realize that there are few smokers around now, and no one will agree with me, but it really wouldn't have bothered anyone if I did have an occasional one, a distance from the pool, in the open air..... whatever, here nor there.
There were 2 chairs on the balcony, but NOT ONE TABLE to set your morning coffee on.
How sad that they've felt the need to bolt a nice gate, and that you're no longer able to take your own beverage, IN A PLASTIC CUP poolside anymore. Don't try it, you'll definitely be harshly reprimanded.
Now that they have food and beverage service out there, as usual, it's all about the money.
I'm 71 years old now and like I said, I was disappointed, and don't need to be harshly reprimanded by young girls.
I will likely look elsewhere on my next visit to Kelowna.
Room was clean, however dated and the room staff was excellent.
