Nice place with beautiful rooms and grounds. At the end of the island overlooking figure 8 island. Great for Shell hunters.

Mother/daughter trip was lovely

⸻ We had a wonderful stay at Shell Island Resort! The location is unbeatable—peaceful, quiet, and right on the beach with breathtaking views. The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, both at check-in and check-out, which made us feel right at home. The on-site restaurant was a pleasant surprise with delicious food and great service, though we were a little disappointed it was closed on Monday. Our room was clean and comfortable, and waking up to the ocean view each morning was a real treat. Overall, a relaxing getaway in a beautiful setting—we’ll definitely be back! ⸻

This hotel is the last building on the street, so it's surrounded on three sides by beach and the beautiful green landscape around the inlet. It's a slightly quieter end of the beach and gets quieter still as you follow it north, which was great for peaceful early morning walks. The hotel itself is showing its age with some rough edges (our bed creaked loudly at the slightest movement), so not the most pristine option in the area, but the views more than made up for it for us. The restaurant is also pretty basic but affordable, and the staff were all friendly. The indoor and outdoor pools were nice as well.

Great view right on the beach. Friendly helpful staff. Overall in need of upgrades, especially to the mattress in our room.

Location is great! my unit was shabby all around. on plus side Maintenance was super prompt.

Facility seems to be a bit older than some of the other hotels, however- location is great! All rooms have ocean view with balconies and the marshes are on the other side. Rooms are spacious, with sitting area and large window to the ocean. Small kitchen, 2 toilets (1 with shower). Access to beach. Large parking garage. We did not use the restaurant.

Property was nice. The tall male bar tender did all the work. The girls just walked in circles really not doing anything.

It was clean and the staff was very friendly.

Very neat clean place to live , beautiful property at dead end. Beach was super clean , loved it Problem AC did not work at night , Mattress was way too soft , I am 160lbs and sank , had hard time sleeping. And woke up with back pain The area does not have commercial shops /shopping, unlike Myrtle beach where it’s lively and lights/ bright at nighttime

We had a great experience using Shell Island for the first time, with the exception of the water's unpleasant smell. The location was perfectly suited for our needs, and we plan to revisit in the future.

From the moment you walk into the lobby This place is a mess and it smells Outdated and not cared for Old and not renovated Dirty elevators The clock in the mini living are is wrong..just saying some details matter to some people AC vents are dirty 🧐 The room: it smells it’s outdated the blinds the furniture all of it The kitchen counter dirty upon check in no hot water kettle Not a single bottle of water in the room Nothing! One coffee pack and one filter enough for one cup The curtains in bedroom no long enough to cover the blinds / window So light creeps in from hallways Whoever peeks in from hallway can see you laying in bed Also beds are midgets too short too small WiFi ….it’s simply terrible Toilet seat busted upon check in we did call for maintenance or front desk this place is beyond calling maintenance no use no need and don’t even bother. We don’t use the jacuzzi outside but it looks dirty yellow in color. For what this place is charging it’s a rip off a total rip off No beach chairs or lounges or umbrellas This is pretty much a 2 ⭐️⭐️ at best that’s is in rough shape but charging $300 a night plus taxes & resort fees 😂😂😳😳😵‍💫😵‍💫 Stay somewhere else book somewhere else. Not a chance on earth that we would return here. This property is not worth more than $129.99 a night and still I would not return even if it’s free. This true precise review shall be a wake up call to management and owners ( you should not be in business )

My absolute favorite place to visit! The beach is beautiful, the condos are perfect size and the location is secluded and quiet. We also enjoy going to Wilmington which is an easy 20-ish minute drive.

Chairs and table on balcony covered with bird droppings - which would've been forgiveable if the room hadn't also been completely filthy. Marks on bedsheets, stains on towels. There were 2 spoons in the "equipped kitchen" - one a teaspoon, one a tablespoon - both dirty in the drawer as were both bowls (of two wildly different sizes) -- AFTER we washed the cups, the spoons, the bowls the three of us had to take turns (I'm not kidding) with the one appropriately sized cereal bowl and spoon. Completely ridiculous. Cleaning aside - the beds were super uncomfortable and none of us got decent sleep at all. Eco friendly? I'm sure they are, because they don't clean (saving water and resources I suppose). Good service? I gave them a three of five because they said they were giving me a full refund (I haven't seen it yet though) and I was able to go elsewhere in the end, but absolutely wouldn't stay here again even if I was paid to do so.
