I apparently did not read enough reviews prior to booking this hotel. The owners were not very personable or welcoming. The room was comfortable enough but

Hotel was absolutely disgusting, they had a great rating on the website but did not live up to the 8.0, the first room they tried to give me was run down and dirty, broken furniture and dirty. The second room had dried urine and semen on the bed. The front desk was unaccomendating and very nasty.

Property was very dirty and not well maintained. Only stay here if there is no other option.

The property’s showing its age . We were in a non smoking room with many burn holes everywhere. I will say we had a problem with a light fixture that was resolved very quickly and professionally. My biggest concern was the bathtub had no rubber mat and the bottom was very slippery while taking a shower I had to stand on a washcloth so I wouldn’t fall!!

Staff was nice

This stay was a total disappointment. The lobby smelled like chicken boullion yet (even though promised) there was no food available for breakfast, lunch or dinner even though there was a kitchen in sight. And, on the morning we tried to get available coffee in the lobby....the carafes were empty. Total disappointment.

Not good! The lobby stinks of stale food; the hallways have a bad smell though not as strong. The ice bucket in our room contained food waste from a previous guest. They don't make your bed or change towels unless you ask, but they don't tell you this (so we came back to soggy towels in the evening). There's two pillows per queen bed, and no extras, so too bad if you want two of your own. The toilet blocks very easily. The staff isn't friendly. And with all of this they have the audacity to charge you a $100 deposit!

Cleanliness

Our room was not very clean. The carpet had stains and felt sticky. My socks were black after walking around (I forgot my slippers). There was a bracelet from the previous guest on the floor so I’m not sure it was vacuumed very well. The sheets, towels and bed coverings were very thin. I guess there isn’t daily housekeeping at the hotel because we were there 3 nights and our room was never cleaned, trash taken out or supplies replenished.

We have stayed three times at Sonesta In Durham . The hotel is always clean, the staff are always friendly and I feel it is good value for money. Fiona

My stay was pleasant except room not having remote and trash bags

Our room was never cleaned over the 3 days we were there. There was an odor of curry/marijuana inside the hotel and our room. I would not recommend.

The property needs to be refurbished. Overall the property seems dated, and while there is a no smoking policy, the room has clearly been smoked in. Several electrical outlets in the room no longer worked, and limited linen services. Would not recommend

Cleanliness!

Wonderful experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and safe environment. The only issue was it was advertised with pool (my reason for choosing this hotel) but it was NOT) open. Overall not a bad place

There were stains on the carpet and couch.

I felt like I was in a homeless shelter. Really seedy people were walking around the hotel, some barefoot. I felt so unsafe there. Then someone around my room started smoking in the bathroom and all the smoke was coming in through the vent. When I complained about it, the person at the front desk said that they will gladly change my room, all I have to do is come over closer to 11. When I did, she said the room was not ready yet to come back later. When I came back, there was a different person and she said there were no available rooms and no one told her that I would be changing rooms. So I had to deal with another sleepless night of second hand smoking in a hotel that is advertised as "no smoking".

The noise was really bad. The property is also showing signs of aging.
