Selected this hotel because of the convenient location and the size of the rooms which seems good according to the online description.
Reserved 8 Junior King suites for a family gathering. All rooms had views to the inner court space (yard is too generous) which had scaffolding, even in the top floors. Because of this, all rooms were super dark and depressing.
What was very bothersome was that after paying the rooms through Expedia, they charge a "resort fee" of $40 per room. They only allowed me to pay the fee for the rooms at check out time (not before even after trying on 3 occasions with different personnel). And when you pay the fee, they say you get a $15 credit per room, which HOWEVER, you CANNOT use if you check out, not even at the cafe. Such a waste of time, energies, and ridiculous twisted system to take money and pretend they are generous.
Reception personnel was somewhat friendly, some with big attitudes and quite inefficient (lines to check in and check out were over 10 people long almost every time we went in or out).
Bell attendants are the only ones that deserve a shout out, in my experience: helpful, friendly and efficient.
To conclude, while Martinique appears like an OK deal in comparative terms to other hotels, the "resort fee", mediocre rooms and some haughty personnel guarantee I will not repeat or recommend this hotel. Truly disappointing experience!
