good golf course, tennis court, rooms and buildings with full of historic scent. 30 minutes drive from Manchester airport. meeting rooms are cozy, but internet access with laptop inconvenient (smartphones are ok). breakfast was excellent and bar serves all kinds of nice cocktail.

Great all round - had an excellent visit

It was extremely difficult to manage the inclines around the Hotel grounds, as i was supporting my Mum, who is 89 years of age with terminal cancer. When i confirmed the room a week before we arrived i asked if my mum could have a room close to the main reception area, which i was told would be the case, however on arrival, we were placed down the road. You did supply my Mum with the use of your golf buggy, however on the day of the wedding, my Mum walking them few steps was heartbreaking to observe. You shouldn't promise something that you cannot deliver.

We tried to check in early as we were at a wedding during the day. The receptionist said unfortunately this wasn’t possible despite letting other people to do so and would let us know as soon as a room was available (no one contacted us at all). They offered to hold our bags but we later just found it unattended in the reception area. When we finally were able to check in, we were given a room with one tiny fan with a window that only opened 2 inches. When we queried this with reception, they said unfortunately all air con rooms were taken. We paid a lot more than other guests who had air con but the receptionist said it all depends on who you book with but she wasn’t clear on which websites would be best for booking rooms with air con. As for the room, there was no hot water for the shower and it was impossible to sleep in with the heat. Overall, this is quite an upsetting experience, especially when paying over £160 for the night.

Plenty of Character

Myself and my family stayed a few nights for a wedding.. our room was a suite and was clean.. the only problem was no air in our room like there was in others.. overall a good stay.

It was weird because so of the hotel rooms you had to from reception walk outside to another entrance to get to my room

A lovely historic building, looks great from the outside but, on closer inspection, in need to significant refresh / maintenance update to get up to the standard that one would expect for a Champneys branded site. Main issues ( which were very evident ) were chipped / scuffed paintwork on most external and also internal doors ; very thin walls with no soundproofing, meaning that one could hear conversations from people passing the room ; lack of Air Conditioning ( in this day and age ! ) ; lack of hot water, meaning that taking a decent bath was not possible.

Was really looking forward to staying here! The grounds where beautiful and the staff where great! Rooms are very dated bathroom was like a Travelodge with posh toiletries. plug next to bed was some funny plug so have to leave phone other side of the room, small old tv. Bed was two singles pushed together not really acceptable when you paid for a king size bed. Seats in room very uncomfortable and have been wrecked by dogs. Overall do pay the money to stay here plenty of better hotels in the area and cheaper

Great stay, spa was great, but be aware which package you choose

Checked in with no issues by Millie, very pleasant young lady. Showed to our room by Mark, very helpful chap. We paid for a Terrace room, very spacious, clean and a lovely view of the fountain and gardens. Bathroom clean, again spacious. Bath and separate shower. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board, tea, coffee, biscuits, all available. Corridor to the rooms a little dated and floor very creaky (not a complaint just an observation). Breakfast the next morning was chargeable extra to the room. Buffet style with Plenty of choice and availability, fruit, cereal, pastries, cooked breakfast, bread for toast. Unfortunately this is where we encountered an issue… tea and coffee needed to be requested - we waited 35 minutes for Tea & Coffee despite asking the staff 4 times, who then served later tables before us. The “supervisor” Thomas had a terrible attitude and rather than accepting that they had made an error, made matters worse with an arrogant, attitude. Such a shame one member of staff can cause a dampener on an otherwise lovely experience. In addition to this, we made the general manager of the hotel aware of the supervisors conceited attitude and she was happy for us not to pay the breakfast. However, 30 minutes after leaving the venue my credit card was charged!

Hi the drop boxes don't cover everything. At reception the member of staff that checked me in was fine, but when I said I wanted to pay cash which was my intention when booking and the reason why I did book. Another member of staff rudely interrupted and said it is card only. The website says cash is excepted. The room was in need of a deep clean and also lots of things needed to repaired. Some things possible dangerous like towel warmer really loose and some things silly. Main part of the hotel seems nice. All other staff seem fine. Every time at the bar the price was different. For the same drinks not by a lot, but should be the same. Real time dynamic drinks prices is not mentioned on website. At breakfast the was a thick layer of dust in plain site which would be so easy to clean. Which gets you thinking of kitchen area. I have taken some pictures. I have contacted the hotel and explained the the issues was offered a upgrade if I stayed in the future as a good will gesture. I contacted them and said that does not fix the issues I had. It's my opinion, but it was not value for money or good experience. The website still says excepts cash.

Very very beautiful and quiet place to stay !

Staff were helpful. Disappointing it didn’t say on booking that the spa facilities were extra, especially when it had on some other offerings. WiFi didn’t work either.

Expected more from room. Arrived and shower needed fixing. Free drinks given to compensate. No air con.

Perfect location Perfect spa the best we have stayed in. We will be coming back.
