Lovely stay would book again. Shame about the heat in the rooms and with no air con it was a little tough one of the nights but we can’t help the hot weather!

Room clean bathroom clean . Shower very poor as shower head would not stay in position to stand under. Water either hot or cold. Staff helpful . Breakfast good plenty of choice. Stay in hotel was for wedding . Food good as for general dinning menu didn’t use. The hotel very expensive for the money we paid. Stayed in travel lodge 2wks previous room excellent for cost .

Great food, good atmosphere and beautiful location

A great hotel in lovely setting , we have been coming here for short breaks for 20 years . Staff are always super helpful and facilities are great . Breakfast not as good as it used to be with only buffet option , should re- introduce the no charge al a carte menu for those who don’t enjoy buffet. Also bread choice very limited - need Granary / baguette options. Swimming pool was excellent with superb facilities for ordering drinks to the pool which in the extreme heat was very much appreciated.

We had a nice stay at Balmer Lawn. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a country retreat feel to it and isn't too large, giving a lovely independent feel to it. The breakfast was very good. Although the hotel could do nothing about the hot weather, the lack of air conditioning in our room was an unfortunate negative making for an uncomfortable night's sleep (even with the fan provided). The staff had already provided a fan in the room and opened all the windows for us but with a westerly facing room, the afternoon/evening sun was making our room very hot. Overall a nice stay, just a shame that a four star hotel had no air conditioning in the bedrooms.

The bunk bed room was perfect for our two younger kids. However, the lack of air conditioning made it difficult to sleep during our stay due to the heat. Once the weather cooled down at night, the large fan helped a lot. Parking was tight, and there are four EV chargers outside, although they are quite expensive at £0.98 per kWh. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming.

I stayed here for one night with my daughter after a trip to Peppa Pig World, and I’m so glad I chose this hotel. It was absolutely wonderful. The staff were lovely, and there was so much to do. We enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor pools, played ping-pong, explored the grounds, and even went on the zip line. The most magical part was seeing the wild horses just a short walk away. Being right in the heart of the New Forest made it feel really special. My daughter also loved the piano man and danced her little heart away. To make our stay even more special, the hotel surprised her with a birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful touch and made her day. It was truly an amazing experience, and we can’t wait to come back.

Enjoyed the whole experience

The superior double room was clean, the bathroom was ok but the bath is small. The building is tired and in need of renovation. We used the spa and had a massage which was excellent. Breakfast was good.

We had an excellent stay. Breakfast was really fresh and had plenty of choice. The indoor pool was a little cool for my liking but the pool area and spa were fantastic. Didn’t go in the outdoor pool but the grounds around it were lovely and well looked after. Staff were amazing, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room was slightly dated with a few cracked tiles in the bathroom and wear and tear to the bath and sink. We had lunch and dinner and couldn’t fault the food it was so tasty and the chips were the best I’ve had in a long while. Can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful hotel in stunning surroundings. Restaurant was excellent for dinner and the staff were lovely . Breakfast was very good too. No complaints and only wish my stay was longer !! I will definitely return

Lovely hotel, staff were excellent and polite. Food was fantastic in the restaurant and good amount of choices for me to choose from being coeliac, breakfast had good options too. We used the pool which was pleasant. Overall a great stay and would recommend.

Good: staff were excellent and despite working long shifts never dropped this lofty position, always friendly and offering to help. Location is great, ponies roaming nearby and close by to the New Forest and towns.The downstairs lounge and outdoor seating were lovely places to sit in the sun. Bad: half of the large main sign wasn't lighting. Did this affect my stay? No, but it's the sort of thing you'd expect at a 2* seaside resort. The rooms themselves seemed clean but just poorly maintained. A desk fan was provided in place of air conditioning and it didn't work. One of the bedside lights didn't work. The toilet dripped constantly. The rooms have a 1 inch gap beneath the door to the corridors so they can be a bit noisy. The bizarre: I had a shock when hearing scampering and scratching above my head (on the second floor). The noise didn't continue into the night so this was probably a squirrel nesting in the walls but I had visions of rats at first. The shower has no door or screen and so water trickled along the seal, onto the floor, along the wall and into the far corner. There is no drain on that bathroom floor so where does that water go?!

We truly had an amazing stay at Balmers Lawn! We got a really good deal for Easter weekend, and it exceeded expectations on every level. The room was only classified as "standard" yet it was huge, lovely big bathroom, and they had put Easter Craft in the room for the kids. Kids can use the swimming pool in the morning and evening, and we had it to ourselves each morning we went! Food was excellent and the staff just so friendly and helpful, everyone was a pleasure to interact with. We are all desperate to go back!

Professional &personable staff, always happy to help-great location with lovely walks around the forest and local restaurants and pubs-a recommendation would be to take a torch for the walk back from the pub and entering the hotel grounds which was quite dark-had a great Easter stay & visited nearby tourist locations-have stayed there before and would definitely go back-highly recommended

Urine stained duvet on bed. Clean cover on it instead of removing it. Superior room but adjoining door to next room, could hear absolutely everything going on in that room. It felt like our room was the children’s room of the adjoining bedroom.door needs some sort of soundproofing. Twin beds very small for adults. Seemed a very noisy area of hotel.doors very loud upon closing. Staff very helpful when asked to change rooms, unfortunately no room available until second night of our stay. Breakfast good with good choices but second morning not so hot. I had stayed in this hotel in October with a friend and was very impressed with it but this trip with my son for my 60th birthday wasn’t so good, sadly we left feeling dissatisfied and disappointed. Although the member of staff did what he could to help, if a room is not available what can he do other than give us a £50 discount.
