Perfect little cabin get away with tons of wild life and a beautiful beach! It’s more retreat style, as there’s no a/c and no tv’s in the room, but with so much going on in and around the property, you don’t miss the TV at all. I can’t speak to whether or not the a/c is necessary, as it was 50° outside during our stay, so we used the heat! I think it stays pretty cool year round in NorCal, But if that’s a necessity for you, just take this into account. Also note, cleaning lady and mini fridge are only available upon request. I learned that this retreat was designed by the first female architect and you can tell with how su soaked the rooms are!!

Staying here my experience was pretty bad. Starting with my check-in. The guy working the front desk had a tone and attitude that kinda set the miserable tone from the beginning. He was somewhat argumentative and just all around unhelpful. I later found out there was a public 4th of July event that nobody even told me about or made me aware of. Would have been nice to know about ahead of time. After checking in, there were two bottles of water with a $6 price tag. One of them was already open. So I took it to the front desk and asked for a new one so that I would not be charged. I also think it’s disgusting to have an unsealed food item in my room that I could have mistakenly consumed and potentially get sick. I took this to the front desk and was literally told “just put it back, you probably won’t get charged” by the same guy and a young lady. They refused to replace it. There was also broken glass on the floor in front of my room, I notified the front desk, and over the duration of my stay, 3 days, it was never cleaned. Considering this is a family oriented place, it absolutely shocks me they didn’t clean it right away especially considering kids run around with no shoes on.

Beautiful property, with beach access within 5 minute walk.

The property is clean, well preserved, and is a historic California Land Mark. It is walkable to the ocean and 17 mile drive. The natural landscape entices native animals like dear to wonder on the property. The vegetation natives to the area gives a warm and natural landscape. The walk paths are easy for any level of hiker.

Like a cabin at summer camp and wood for the fireplace was set up in your room everyday for your evening fire...great stay

Truly a special place. Fascinating layout, comfortable beds and easy access to the beach. I really look forward to having a reason to visit again.

Unique location. Size of room excellent. Bathroom less so. Shower faucets need upgrade.

Room smelled like smoke from the firewood and ants were everywhere. No tv, no microwave and no phone to contact front desk.

A little bit of paint won’t hurt. I get it, it’s an old property but little details make a big difference. The noise cancellation is terrible and we had bad luck with our neighbors next door they were having a big party and we heard everything. If you love thriller movies like The Shining you’ll love the atmosphere inside of this room. We loved the scenic view around the property the trees, the sand. the wood trails, the beach is close and we got lucky finding a deer in our way.

I attended conferences here for 30 years but was shocked that they have let this property go down hill. The grounds are not maintained, the buildings need re-stained and windows sealed and painted and it appears nothing has been done in 30 years.

We had a great stay. Some of the rooms are older, but we felt like it added to the charm of a "camp" bunking experience. The whole experience was a vibe, and we will be going back again soon. Also, love that there are no TVs.

Employees seem like they don’t enjoy working there. No eye contact, no smiles, uninterested in pleasantries. I wasn’t informed there were breakfast vouchers with key, wasn’t told time for free breakfast, missed the first one and almost threw away vouchers not knowing what they were. Love the grounds, rooms are outdated but very clean.

Great location - older property but I have stayed there before so knew what to expect. Food has gotten pretty pricey in the dining room. Lots of lessons learned for our next trip. Overall good value.

I really enjoyed having the fireplace. The drape was partly falling. Needs electronic charging outlets. Having a phone in the room helps if I needed to call 911. Would have been nice to have a TV.
