Excellent staff and stay

Overall for the price this is a not bad hotel. The rooms and corridors look very dated however and it could do with a makeover. However the breakfast was excellent and the bed was comfortable so I’d say good value.

An interesting building, not your usual square box hotel so to speak, nice grounds out front with water feature to sit if you wish. The facility obviously caters to events such as weddings etc in the evening, however they do not go on to late, so no noise problem. Reception has now moved from it's dedicated and full time staffed place, to the bar, which i feel was simply a case to reduce staff required as it seems to no longer be staffed full time. Rooms are varied, and reasonable in size clean and tidy, perhaps in need of modernization, but they are more than functional. Staff are very helpful. Breakfast is a fairly wide buffet with numerous options, all in all good. Cost wise, it is competitive and I have stayed a number of times, parking availability is good and has never been a problem. (just ignore sat nav's directions to entering the property and follow the road signs!)

Generally we had a good stay as it was an excellent price. Shame about the bradford ulez charge £9 per day. Rooms clean and tidy. Comfortable bed excellent shower. Room radiator heating not working so had to be given a oil heater. Whole building is tired. Rooms and building require renovation, listed building makes it difficult. Single glazed windows, no convenient power points by the beds. Breakfast facilities not used. Staff helpful. Would consider returning to visit bronte country as its well placed.

We spent four nights at the Bradford Mercure Hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There are as plenty of car park spaces and the breakfast was amazing with a fantastic choice of food. The room was large and clean with a good bathroom. The one complaint was that their website states there was food available all day. When we arrived, we were told food was from 6 pm. Then on the last two days there were coach parties and large gatherings on site, and we were told that food for hotel guests would be served from 8 pm. And the menu turned out to have just four main courses, nothing like the large menus on their website. It seemed that hotel residents were treated as second class citizens. Apart from that, the hotel and staff were great.

No evening meal available on first night to visitors other than a function being run and coach party. Second night similar but reduced menu available after eight o’clock after function and coach party had evening meals, then only really wanted to serve bar snacks.

Check in was not the best. The MOS clearly didnt want to be there. Didnt tell us about the only lift. The room was as far away from the reception in a very much less than full hoyel. We were 'treated' to the noise of the by-pass all night. The hotel was in a poor state of repair, I pointed out torn carpet to a MOS who laughed and went into an office. The ceiling over the staircase had a large crack across it. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay with friendly staff and a good selection of food and drink. I would NOT recommend this hotel.

Four off us stayed for a 1 week, the hotel and staff were excellent and very helpful, our room was very comfortable, bed was very comfortable. We did have a problem trying to get into our room, the key card did not activate and had to go to reception several times for new card. If we had 1 problem, it would be most helpful to have a handrail going up the steps to main entrance.

Only thing we found that was not very good the restraint evening menu was poor as hunters chicken fish & chips, Mac & cheese no new Zealand wine were all off leaving very little choice

This is a tired hotel. Reception was fine, the walk to our room past chipped paintwork and on faded carpet led to our room which had rusty hinges in the bathroom, a rusty plughole in the sink, and an extractor fan that was not working. On the positive side, comfortable bed. We did not pay a fortune for the room and it was only a one night stay. Just needs a bit of TLC

Hotel is situated in well maintained grounds,with lots of parking. Staff friendly and helpful. Room basic,needing updating.Comfortable bed. Great choice àt breakfast time from a hot breakfast,to cereals plus continental,in a lovely room overlooking the grounds at the front of the hotel. New carpet in communal areas badly needed plus redecorating. Having said all that the price was very reasonable,and it is a dog friendly hotel.

The room was clean and well equipped. Not being able to easily open the windows on the hottest day of the year was annoying. A hack to wedge curtains open to allow some air in through the tiny gap available was not needed. A fan was also not available. Having to order food via an app was not great. However it was hot when it arrived. Breakfast ordered for the room didn’t happen. No one took the breakfast order provided to hang on the door despite clearing the dinner tray. I can’t comment on the breakfast as didn’t have time in the end even tho it was paid for.

Really enjoy this old/new hotel would return

The whole feeling of the hotel felt dated and in much need of updating , the advert fails to show that each side of the lovely looking building are 2 great blocks of rooms. In the room almost all of the woodwork finish was worn ,exposing the wood underneath, bathroom had cracks and felt just generally dated,toilet had a very high water level, none of this made our stay very pleasant ,this was supposed to be a nice weekend away for our anniversary,but instantly felt very disappointed when we arrived.

Plenty of parking and fine for the money but rooms are tired and a little run down.

Only used for a short stay before flying from Leeds Bradford. It was clean, bed was comfortable and shower was fine. Otherwise we only had 1 drink in the bar before an early night.it was quiet and warm. Building looked a bit sad.
