This hotel is a good choice if you have a car and want to visit Catania and nearby towns like Taormina and others. Its location allowed us to drive to towns we wanted to visit without having to deal with the heavy traffic and parking hassles of Catania every day. It has plenty of free parking on site.
The front desk staff was always helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable.
The worst part of our stay was the lack of dining options. There are no "good" restaurants or eateries within walking distance. There are a couple of decent restaurants within driving distance, but as we found out, you may need reservations on weekends and in season.
The hotel restaurant is set up to accommodate large tour groups, which usually means mediocre quality food and that's exactly what they serve. Menu is limited, food quality is mediocre to poor and service is non existent. My wife and I walked in for dinner and were told the restaurant was reserved for tour groups and they couldn't accomodate us. Upon our insistence, they reluctantly set up a small table in one corner of the dining room. Service was terrible and food quality was very poor. We never returned.
Breakfast is served downstairs. The staff at breakfast is friendly, helpful, attentive and professional. There's a good selection of pastries, breads, cold cuts, cheese, some cereals and fruits. The variety and quality of hot breakfast items like eggs, bacon or sausages are mediocre to poor.
