Lots of character but also LOTS of steps inside, no lift. Not suitable for anybody with limited mobility- we were on the third floor ( top) with a 90 year old pensioner in tow who luckily had a lower floor . Lovely market square location but if you like a quiet space dont have a room overlooking the square, there is a clock tower right outside that chimes from 7am till midnight... disturbed sleep. Delivery lorries restocking the kitchen/bar arrived early at the front door and banged noisily, no good for sleeping past 7am. The rooms are lovely but our Room 7 had a sloping roof section over the bed that resulted in a few head bangs when getting up at night. The bedroom crockery had coffee stains in the cups. The shower had been upgraded but needed cleaning/painting as the ceiling was mouldy and the edge of the shower tray needed a good clean. The mattress was like sleeping on a trampoline, if your partner turns over, you bounce two foot in the air! Plus points go to the staff in the bar and restaurant, very friendly and efficient, price of food and beer is good and quality of food/ portion sizes was excellant but beware of the surcharge added unknowingly to your restaurant bill. I don't mind tipping ( and we did) but at my choice not theirs.
