The staff was very helpful but thought the price was very high as I only paid £ 57 for a night in a 4 star hotel with sea view on the Thursday week before as it was a last minute booking like this was I didn’t realise it was above a pub and with an awful view out the window and the pillow gave me neck ache but staff changed it no bother very helpful I lee

Air conditioning incredibly noisy outside my room

Staff were lovely and helpful. Rooms had no AC and were dated and dirty carpets and windows. Breakfast was pretty bad - offered orange and then told none left: offered veggie breakfast which came with black pudding (not really very veggie!!). Was slid off plate for me and then came back without the veggie sausages and then told they'd run out of those too. So had egg and mushroom only as 'full veggie breakfast'. Nice lady dealing with my issues then kindly made me a proper coffee as compensation - which was great as the general coffee in offer was yakky brown water only... Staff were very polite and nice having to operate in an inadequate hotel - not an easy job I imagine. Very loud location with noisy bars etc but generally ok for a budget offering if you don't mind that. Maybe don't book the breakfast and avoid staying in hot weather.

The majority of the staff were fabulous, really great customer care - especially the gentleman on Reception who checked us in, the lady behind the bar when we went down for our breakfast in the morning, the Chef at the carvery and I wish I got his name, but the guy that looked after us so much during our evening meal - he went above & beyond! The only reason I didn't give the staff full stars was due to 1 person who we found rude, abrupt and she totally forgot to order my Husband's drink at the bar. Luckily, the guy that had been looking after us asked my Husband why he didn't have a drink as he brought mine over and rectified the situation immediately.

Lovely room and breakfast was good but my room was opposite a number of bars with outside seating so was a bit rowdy. Rooms at the back of the hotel may have been quieter.

Beautiful room lovely and clean staff very helpful and knowledgeable about the area especially howard who checked us in he was very friendly Breakfast was really good and hot We will definitely be returning

Stayed in room 10, lovely room and spotless, checkin was nice and easy and staff were fantastic, great buffet breakfast also, fantastic location

Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. Issues with the shower once we entered the room, no one had checked that the shower was even working before giving us the room and they had to call plumbing. A damp smell in the room too. Told the hotel was full and couldn’t move to another room and had to go shower in another room. After we had left the hotel to attend an event were informed of another room (but the exhaust fans of kitchen can be loud) so they didn’t offer it to us at that time. Then while in the midst of an event they told us they will move all our stuff to this room which we could have done ourselves when we had the time (they were aware what time we were leaving for the event) . Put our shoes in our suitcases on top of our clothes and quite an invasive thing to do with your personal belongings. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone and we made a complaint to reception about all of this. Also rooms are very hot in the summer time.

The breakfast was really good, the first morning it was fresh but the second morning it was a fresh buffet, I think it depends on how many people are staying at the time. The wait staff who was on both mornings was outstanding! He remembered us and our preferences?

The Bold is a lovely Hotel, very popular with non residents to, day and night, inside and out It’s on an excellent location, near to all amenities Some car parking spaces round the back but you can pay for a space, with a discount at their sister hotel The Grand across the road if it’s full All the Bar, Restaurant and reception staff were very warm and welcoming. The room was cosy, the bed comfy, the bathroom spacious, all with good facilities Breakfast was a very nice hot buffet, drinks machine and a cold selection with a toast machine The only draw back we found was that there was some road and revellers noise into the night that a bit of internal double glazing would have fixed and a lift to the bedrooms would be good It was good value for money We would definitely recommend staying there

I was shocked on arrival that they would not accept a card from Google Wallet and insisted on an actaual card. What possible difference can it make. Fortunately there was someone else in the party who had a card on them. Really., in the 21st century.

Stayed at the bold hotel many times in the past After this stay it does need some work and renovation. The old place is looking tired and old. Stain on the ceiling in our room carpeting one furniture, outdated, and exterior needs repair and painting.

Excellent value for money, staff friendly and bedrooms in good clean condition. Lovely atmosphere in bar and would highly recommend

Food was excellent , rooms spotless, shower did not have a very good flow of water.

Lovely staff. Room comfortable and spacious. Was a little too hot but there was a fan if needed. Allowed us to check in early and store the cases after check out

All staff we encountered were helpful & extremely polite.. parking for us was easy as we had a disable badge used street parking .
