Our host was an amazing person and nothing was too much trouble for her - she even stopped some traffic to allow us to park! She also cooks delicious breakfasts. The person working the bar was also extremely friendly and welcoming, which is often quite hard to find nowadays.

Perfect for two night stay ….downside , we stupidly didn’t realize that there was no on site parking which wasn’t easy as we are in our eighty's !!

Nice friendly pub. Staff were great especially the owner who is leaving soon to retire. Handy for the town and has good food choices.

I really think the staff were amazing. Food was great and the bed gave me a good night sleep. What more can you ask for

Enjoyed my stay. Nice clean, comfy room. Good choice for breakfast and short walk from train and town centre.

I don't normally leave reviews but this was worth a decent review. Booked late on the day of arrival & they were 100% ready for my arrival. My room was clean, modern, bed was comfortable & the shower was good. Food was superb (I'd definitely recommend the King Prawn & Crab linguine) & breakfast was equally as good. Most importantly the staff were so pleasant (apologies I didn't catch anyone's name). Next time I'm in the area this will be the first place I look for.

Impressed by the hotel owners' diligence and hospitality in arranging for parking, preparing breakfast and intriloducing some sight-seeing spots

Stayed before and will stay again. Lovely people. Great value.

Quiet, Quaint, and very friendly atmosphere

Just spent a wonderful week in Penryn staying at The Thirsty Scholar whilst visiting family,Everything about the TS is spot on, comfortable and clean room, excellent breakfast, and a really nice and varied dinner menu.Very pleasant staff and well run by Adele and Darren, would definitely recommend the placer. a few days away.

We had a fantastic couple of days in Penryn and loved everything about our accommodation! Absolutely first class stay and more than happy to recommend The Thirsty Scholar. It was the perfect base for us.

This is a return visit , so that says it all , food is great and room was of a good standard, WIFI issue though in room but in bar and restaurant area very good ,

Had a nice stay at the Thirsty Scholar after the hassle of gettng into the property and the parking. Your website said we could get in at 2.30 but couldn't get in until 4.00, although the owner did arrange for someone to come and let us in. Free parking your website states, there is no parking for the pub which again was a hassle for us as the Council carpark was quite a way with steep hills.

Its position and great beer

Beautiful little pub with delicious food and a lovely room with a fantastic view of the harbour. Staff were very friendly and overall a great place to stay.

The Manageress is one of those golden hearted people who makes you want to go back.

staff were excellent, host Adele was excellent, nice pub, good pub food, good breakfast, good transport links bus & train, rooms were good, bed was comfy. dog friendly. real ales,

Historic building sympathetically modernised. Obviously some noise as its a pub but hey

Ideal location for visiting Penryn campus. Food was excellent. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
