The Alt Hotel is walking distance from Halifax Airport, which makes it incredibly convenient. The property is clean, quiet, has great window shades so the room can be made absolutely dark. Nice bar, good pizza. All around a good place to stay while passing through Halifax.

Super convenient, comfy and clean! Staff were all friendly. We had an excellent stay! Only thing missing was a hot tub but the pool was nice!

Bed small for a Queen bed. Door to room was hard to open ( paint or tight to frame)

Tub in bathroom not very accessible friendly. Could use a grab bar or a mat for footing. No mention on website of accessible rooms.

Room was fine. Had trouble getting tv channels but I was too tired to mess around with it. The bed was very comfortable.

Appreciating that this hotel is for one-night stays, layovers, or canceled flights, Alt falls short of even that more flexible standard. Aesthetically, the hotel presents as contemporary, relying on a black and jewel-tone color scheme. Coupled with the overdependency on backlit walls, it evokes, at best, goth nightclub, but more fairly, mausoleum. The layout makes little functional sense. There is no lobby in the conventional way, but a small desk tucked into the corner of the restaurant -- on the second floor. If you are fortunate enough to find it, it is not at all clear that it is the front desk of a hotel. A response to a similar criticism was something to the effect of wanting the front desk in the restaurant to make it feel like a family dinner. This is strange considering the front desk is located in a part of the restaurant that suggests it was little more than an after-thought. The rooms are no refuge from the madness, either. The ceilings were made of sheets of unfinished plywood. Yes, plywood. Matte black painted plywood. There wasn't even an effort to fill the holes cause by screws tearing out the wood. The pool is the size of three bathtubs. It is not ventilated, so it doubles as a sauna...but a sauna that smells like musty hotel pool. Fitness center is all one could expect from such an establishment. Unfortunately, I am space limited or I would go on for a little while longer. Suffice it to say, proximity to the airport must be REALLY important.

Close to airport

The place is good but the quality of everything for what you're paying is a bit lacking, this is not just a problem in this Hotel though, seems that a lot of the hotels in Halifax are like that. The service at the reception and the restaurant and was rather poor.
