I usually aim to leave balanced reviews, but our experience at this hotel was quite disappointing. We didn’t receive self check-in information until we contacted the property on the day of arrival, which caused unnecessary stress. Once there, the front door passcode didn’t work — not just for us, but for several other guests who were stuck outside in freezing weather during a Reykjavik snowstorm. It's advertised as self-check-in, but it should't be called "Self-Check-in" Hotel if the codes don’t function properly. The room we were initially assigned also had no working heating, which was hard to accept in such extreme weather. When I called the help desk, I was told to wait until the next day. After informing them that I was traveling with an elderly, we offered a different room. Unfortunately, the heating in the second room failed the next day, and the help desk was unhelpful. Lastly, the listing says there is free parking, which is true — but spaces are extremely limited, so don’t count on availability. Also, if you are not fluent in English, navigating issues here could be challenging and potentially frustrating, as communication might become an additional barrier. On a positive note, I do want to acknowledge that the customer service team, when reached, was generally helpful and supportive. I truly appreciate that, but I would prefer not to be in a situation where I need to contact the team in the first place.

Room was small but it was clean

We were traveling the south coast and started our journey here. The help line was super convenient and we were able to get in touch with someone right away, so the self check in was not a problem even though I didn’t contact them 48 hours ahead for our codes. The free parking was full and the street parking was semi-stressful in terms of knowing for sure if we were going to get a ticket/towed. They told us to park at another hotel that had free parking (full) but we ended up at a spot about a 2 minute walk away. We were slightly off put by the exterior of the building and the abundance of construction in the area but it was incredibly nice inside. It was quiet, we saw people but didn’t hear our neighbors. The room had high ceilings, a gorgeous spacious bathroom, and great natural light/ blackout curtains. Perfect amount of space for our 2 suitcases+bags with surfaces to put them on as well. Another bonus is the grocery store right around the corner. Just plan ahead with parking and call if you have questions but overall would definitely stay again!

Even though there were no onsite service desk, staffs replied your requests and questions very fast and very helpful when emailed or called. Parking might be a bit difficult, but we managed to find free parking down the street. Over all, we are very happy with the stay. Thank you.

It was a nice room and spacious. The bathroom was large. The people in the room next-door must have been smoking weed in their room so the smell transferred to our room. Location was great as we were able to walk everywhere.

Pros: Nice-looking room and lobby. Glad to have a refrigerator in the room. Entrance & room access code was easy to use. Cons: 15-20min. walk to the city center, but it's mostly flat and walkable. Shower curtain was a little mildewy. No ramp at the entrance stairs. Overall, it was a good value for the price. Thank you.

Es war ein tolles Zimmer im zweiten Stock, sehr sauber, tolles Badezimmer und bequeme Betten. Der Check In hat problemlos geklappt (ohne Rezeption), das Parken war auch gut vor dem Hotel möglich und das Frühstücksbuffet sehr lecker. Kann man gut weiterempfehlen.

Pros: easy check in process, nice clean rooms, good location. Cons: Not a lot of available parking, breakfast could have more variety.

Parking was a major issue, there is NO parking (very expensive street parking is limited to 3 hours)! There was no receptionist (got an email with lots of information, tried to find the needle in a lot of hay… for entry code). Small room, tiny bathroom and the tiniest sink we had ever seen (with a broken cabinet under the sink). Noisy water piping, we heard every time someone in other rooms showered or flushed! Not recommended. Really, NOT.
