A good roof over your head with a lovely breakfast provides a great foundation for the perfect holiday. And for this reason I have to give Ethel high praise for looking after me, my wife and daughter, during our four-day stay at the Newport Quay B&B Hotel. The comfortable king size and single bed in our bedroom suited us well, including the en-suite bathroom - all clean and ship shape. Breakfast in this 17th century Grade II listed building was served before 9am and included cereal, a fruit juice, toast with jam and marmalade, tea, coffee, croissant, a yoghurt and fruit. Ethel gave us plenty advice on where to go and what to see. Because we purchased a tourist parking permit, we were able to park outside the hotel. The online permit also allowed us to park at council-run car parks by the beach and in our favourite spot, the picturesque Shanklin Old Village. There are council offices in the next street from the hotel, but don’t park there as the spaces are for staff only. Our room was on the first floor which wasn’t a bind, but if you are disabled, perhaps call them first. Being in the centre it was good for getting treats and we were just one street away from a lovely Italian restaurant. The oldest pub on the island was also a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Unlike other places which don’t allow three adults in one room it was good value for money. Although we were only there for a short while, it was sad to say goodbye. This place definitely ticked all the boxes.

Owner was very welcoming, room was nice and clean, fresh sheets, clean towels and price was very reasonable. Breakfast was nice enough. Fresh fruit, juice, cereal, yogurts, toast, fresh tea and coffee, more than enough to choose from. Ethel was very helpful and polite. Highly recommended.

The place was very clean, comfortable and quiet, just 5-7 minutes walk from bus station to the hotel. The host was very friendly and welcoming, overall was 10/10 ☺️ highly recommend!

I loved how caring the owner was, always checking in before I left in the morning if everything was alright, if I was enjoying my time on the island and if I needed anything. Also very proactive when it came to making sure things were as comfortable as they could be, switching out the bedspreads for a lighter one because it was getting warmer. Overall, a *very* nice experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely little family run B&B. The historic property has been renovated to a high standard and the hosts were extremely friendly and thoughtful. As we did not have a car, the location was also excellent, being close to restaurants and the main bus hub, but away from traffic noise. Would definitely recommend.

Only the bathroom is not so good to use. Others are perfect.

My room was clean and fresh but the shower cubicle was quite narrow so found it difficult to move around in. However, towels were lovely and soft.

Single room was tiny, very small wardrobe and nowhere to put a case.
