It is a wonderful place. It is a place with a feeling of an old home in England. English style breakfast is great

Lovely hotel, currently undergoing refurbishment. But no impact on experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of nice touches in the room. I have already recommended it to several people and I will certainly return. We were a family of 5 and the kids also remarked on how impressive it was, they enjoyed playing tennis and having a swim after dinner. Food was wonderful with an excellent choice, we enjoyed both our dinner and breakfast. *Highly recommend *

Amazing space in family rooms, especially with teenagers. Facilities and food were great too.

Stay was excellent , especially the staff. Elizabeth in the restaurant remembered me from the last time and asked about the family . She is a treasure and should be treated as such- and no ,,she did not pay me for writing this

Located remotely. But beautiful location

We enjoyed a quiet weekend in the Lake District in the Castle Inn conveniently located near Keswick. The hotel is comfortable and in the late stage of being upgraded; this was happening in the background and did not impact nor disturb. I did feel the staff were a bit thin on the ground; however, they could not have been more friendly or helpful, they really made us feel welcome. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

A great place to get as much close to the nature as you can think of. Nice property with an amazing ambience.

The stay was absolutely fantastic. The staff are brilliant. The room was clean and tidy. Food was great all in all a bloody good hotel.

We have stayed here many times and always enjoyed our stay - despite the work being done in the hotel to improve it still further it didn't impact on the stay the only thing we noticed this time was the standard of the breakfast had lowered not a lot of selection on the none cooked options - no longer do yoghurt, only melon and no other fruit options no ha and cheese which have all been previously available. Also on one day missed an items off my cooked breakfast but duly brought when asked

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Castle Inn. Situated in Bassenthwaite, it's just a 15-minute drive into Keswick. There's also a bus that gets you there in 20 minutes - the bus stop is right outside the hotel. There is free on-site parking, and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. All the people we encountered were lovely, from the receptionist to the bar and restaurant staff. We had a family room, consisting of a king-size bed and two singles. There was a lounge area with TV, large wardrobes, a second TV facing the double bed, and a desk area with lots of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, biscuits, water, etc. The beds were really comfortable, and there was a fan in the room. The bathroom was clean and well-equipped. A bath, separate shower cubicle, and plenty of complimentary toiletries, even toothbrushes and toothpaste. The view from the room was lovely - it overlooked the gardens, tennis court, and putting green. The restaurant served a good selection of meals, with plenty of options for the kids and vegetarian options too. I had the Cumberland Curl (sausage), with mash and vegetables, which was very tasty! On-site facilities include a gym, heated pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. The kids loved the pool! Breakfast was excellent, with continental and cooked options available. Although the hotel is currently being renovated, this had no impact on our stay. We will definitely stay here again when we next visit the Lake District.

Lovely stay, hotel was clean and the staff were friendly.

The room was excellent and so were the rest of the facilities. The staff were friendly and very efficient. Although renovation work was being carried out during the day it did not interfere with the enjoyment of our stay.

We have stayed here before and returned as it is a wonderful location and the facilities are excellent. The hotel is under renovation but didn't affect our stay at all

Stayed in a family room with wife and 3 kids. Room was very spacious and comfortable, with lovely views from large windows. Dinner and breakfast both very good with lots of options. I left a jacket by mistake, and the staff were really great and shipped it back to me right away. Great service! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very friendly staff couldnt do enough for you . The food was 5 star on all meals and we could also pay extra to have breakfast in bed . (Real treat ) We had a four poster room which was lovely and a good size but a little noisey from the road .The beds and pillows were to hard for us but this is our preference so might suit a lot of people. All in all a wonderful stay and enjoyed the pool and sauna ,jacuzzi also We will ba back

Pros: Great location and the rooms were in very good condition. Server at dinner and breakfast beyond lovely, (but was absolutely rushed off her feet so drinks took a while). Cons: Receptionist seemed to do the minimum e.g. She gave minimal information about pool, where there were no towels available and no staff anywhere. And no apologies for that when I went along to get towels (it's quite far between the two). Pool also hard to find/ not well signposted. Only downside of the room was significant mould behind shower door. Food on the more basic side in terms of hot breakfast. If the room was cheaper I'd be less fussed.

There was a refurbishment taking place which we were not aware of from booking through Hotels.com There was painting and carpet laid across the flooring on the way to the pool and room. The workmen were friendly and helpful but the hotel was not as we would have expected for the ratings we had read. The Safe in the room didn’t work. My daughter found a hair in her folded towel and the shower water stopped coming out out of the shower head in the middle of my daughter’s hairwash. She has escema and her skin looked very sore. An enjoyable stay but not what we had expected

The room clean and comfortable but outdated in Decor, however there was substantial upgrading works taking place throughout which was mentioned on booking and never affcted our stay . The bathroom felt newly installed, clean and with a decent shower and bath. Where the standards drop is the food. Choose to eat on site first night due to arrival later than planned , a valentines menu and the food was poor . Undercooked pasta , overcooked salmon and bland tasting all round . The offering for breakfast was good , with a good selection of fruit , cereals , pastries ect until the cooked breakfasts arrived . It was rushed through in a time that it couldnt of been cooked to order and wasnt hot on both mornings . A real shame as the location for a bit of peace and quiet was great but 100% need to up the quality of food service and Cooking .

The hotel is in a quiet rural area out of town. It would be beneficial if you have a car, but there is a good bus service and the bus stop is across the road from the hotel. When we were there the hotel was being renovated but we never found this a problem and everyone was very helpful, lovely staff.
