We thought the hosts were really lovely and the location of the guesthouse was ideal for us for walking. There are two pubs within walking distance which serve fantastic food: Coledale inn and Royal Oak. However, we had a downstairs room and seemed to have been really unlucky with the guests upstairs who woke us up every hour during the night. Thankfully, we were only staying a couple of nights as we were absolutely exhausted by the end. Would recommend a stay, just maybe ask for an upstairs room.

We had a lovely stay at Hermiston Guest House. The rooms are well appointed, beautifully clean and refreshed on a daily basis. Breakfast is well organised and the service from Phil in particular was a highlight of the stay. Thank you!

Phil and Helen were excellent hosts. They went above and beyond!! The food was yummy. Especially the shortbread!

Phil and Helen took great care to make the breakfasts fit our needs with lots of choices. Great welcoming and conversation. We enjoyed our two nights. Comfy bed and though the shower knobs took a bit to sort out we enjoyed the shower after long days of touring and walking. Myriad thanks!

Pobyt w Hermiston Guest House był wielką przyjemnością. Nasz pokój był bardzo ładny z widokiem na ogród, co zapewniało nam ciszę i komfort w nocy. Łóżko super wygodne. Właściciel jest fotografem, co dodaje uroku całemu domowi, pełnego pięknych zdjęć, które można też kupić. Na wprost naszego łóżka wisiał piękny obraz-fotografia jeziora Buttermere, za którym tęsknimy. Doceniamy ciasteczka i herbatę w pokoju. Śniadania i pogawędki z gospodarzem, który ma cudowne poczucie humoru były niezwykle miłym akcentem każdego dnia. Mamy nadzieję, że uda nam się wrócić.

Stayed in this fabulous guest house with my husband and father. Everything about it was beautiful! The house is well planned and stocked. The owners, Phil and Helen, are very helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was plentiful with good choices. Phil planned out a scenic tour in our car that was excellent for us. The location is perfect for exploring the Lakes and small villages. I got some amazing photos! We highly recommend and would like to stay there again.

This was our first time staying in a b&b and it was so marvellous. A lovely atmosphere, superb room, lovely hosts and in an idyllic place. Perfect in all ways.

We had a great experience staying at Hermiston Guest House. Phil and Helen are excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The bed in the room “Whinlatter” is huge and comfy, and the bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was cooked to order and tasty. Couldn’t ask for more.

Excellent information prior to our trip, a warm welcome on arrival with tea and short bread (every day!), lovely room, great breakfasts. Phil and Helen are great hosts. The location is excellent including 3 pubs / restaurants in the village for dinner, good access to the mountains, Keswick etc. Overall an excellent stay - we will certainly use Hermiston Guest House again - well done Phil and Helen!.
