What a beautiful, gem of a place. Farm buildings that have been converted into self contained apartments. Yes we could have stayed in a soulless Premier inn with noisy guests coming in from the pub at 2am, but we wanted something with character, close to town and a home from home. Ormskirk and Southport are nearby. Its a paradise for cyclists, hikers and there's even a canal close by for kayakers and Suppers. We will definitely back to stay here!

Lovely 2 bed cottage with all kitchen appliances you need. Great TV, comfy sofa and very private. Good value for the price. Just a few niggles but we would stay again. Owner just needs to address temperature on shower as we couldn't reduce the heat from hot. Also one of single beds was a but lumpy due to a spring but a mattress topper would sort that out. Front door lock is very stiff and difficult to turn key but it just needs some WD40 on to loosen it up. Unfortunately the owner was not around yesterday or this morning or I would have raised these items with her.

This was our 2nd stay in The Stable and it was wonderful. The place is so relaxing, comfortable and importantly, lovely and warm given it was so cold outside. The parking is easy and the place is clean and spacious with everything we needed for our stay.

Quiet country location and hosts were very helpful getting an item left behind back to us.

We choose this place since it was near family who we were visiting from the US for Christmas. We will choose it again because it was very comfortable, clean, and easy to access with lots of room to spread out. I would also like to recognize that the decorations for Christmas- lights inside and out along with small things like the Christmas serviettes were a nice touch. We choose the 3 bedroom The Granary even though it was just my husband and I because the main bedroom has a king size bed which we needed since my husband is very tall. It seems to be hard to find this large bed around England! I also appreciated things like hooks, drawers, shelves around to place things.

A wonderful place to stay! Perfectly sized and set out for solo or a couple. Private, you wouldn't know there are other units around, but this would be a great place for a stay that needed a number of separate spaces. Convenient for WWT Martin Mere (less than an hour walk if you're so inclined). Although not needed, parking space was fine and safe. Truly everything you'd need for a short (or longer) stay.

We had a great stay at The Stable. It’s really comfortable and well equipped with everything needed for a relaxing time. It’s in a peaceful setting yet close enough to quickly pick up any necessities. Easy parking is a bonus and taxis were easily bookable too. We are regular visitors to the area and really wish we’d found this place much sooner. For us it was perfect and we’ll definitely be back.

What a lovely holiday cottage. Absolutely perfect for our 2 night stay with family. My kids loved playing football in the paddock and exploring the area. Felt very safe. Lovely hosts and great location. Highly recommend. Thank you

Fighting outside property it’s a horrible place

Ready at our ETA. Quick access (online check-in, key in door). Owner came to make sure we were OK, answered our questions, told us where he was (next door) in case we had a problem (we didn't). Didn't bother us again. We had the small Dairy Cottage - plenty of room for the two of us - but patio doors straight onto the big garden which the other cottages didn't seem to have. We sat outside a lot just having a cup of tea and looking around at greenery. It's hypnotic. We didn't want for anything. Every home comfort was provided. We had some nice walks but, if you're looking for food, turn right at the canal bridge towards Leo's. Turn left and you end up at a dismal pub that advertises food outside and inside but doesn't do it. We were told 'kitchen closed' at our lunchtime visit but reviews suggest it hasn't done food for a few years. My only suggestion for Martin Lane Holiday Cottages? Update the guest information folder. Otherwise an excellent short break and we would certainty go back.

Lovely little cottage very close to the centre of Liverpool. Perfect for what we needed. Everything was very clean and lots of equipment if you wanted to cook etc. Beds were very comfortable and communication was great. Everything about it was perfect. Would definitely recommend and stay here again. 😊
