An excellent stay welcoming staff lovely room couldn’t ask for mire

We enjoyed the close proximity to the waterfront and city centre. All staff were very nice and helpful. However the interior of the property requires updating. While we recognize the properties historical significance, the rooms require modernization, bathrooms are small, poor air circulation (felt stuffy) with no fan or ac, window screen to keep bugs out. The bed linens and bath linens were low quality, would have been nice to have a hand towel or face cloths. Small changes would have improved the experience, especially given the location opportunity.

I needed a quick break and The Cumberland met the bill (this was my first visit). Staff were courteous, helpful and friendly whilst the breakfast was amply sufficient and good quality. The room was bigger than I had expected and came equipped with a fan since we were in the middle of a heat wave and I think this top floor room was hot at the best of times. I really like these characterful Victorian hotels with their old world charm and decor. Much more interesting in my mind than a boxy travelodge or similar! Definitely would recommend the hotel and I hope to go back soon.

Asked for Ice no ice in the hotel. Staff asked why i need ice!!! I shocked to listen from staff why need Ice??

Staff were friendly and helpful my room was freshly decorated and spotless

Great weekend , all staffs from reception , night lagers and breakfast staff were welcoming friendly and answered any questions i had . I wish I had this experience in other parts of UK and the world

All good and in particular Reception

Pleasant, clean, well located hotel. Much nicer room than in the photos and friendly reception staff. Only stayed one night, but it was quiet and comfortable.

We got to the hotel on Friday night and we was looked after by all the staff and the room was great

Everything was great , even got a free upgrade from single to double room , only downside was a noise i think from a boiler or water system every 30 seconds or so that made sleeping more difficult , maybe i got an unlucky room

It was a very good experience. Lovely hotel and it exceeded my expectations. Welcoming workers and very patient and offered us a nice room. Helped us on our whole stay and it was very clean. Very lovely.

The hotel is large and well presented. The rooms themselves were medium sized and had a shared balcony area above the first floor, and as I have been to Eastbourne countless times at many hotels I would put this definitely in the upper ranks compared to all others. The man on reception was very friendly and funny. The only downside was that due to being immediately on the seafront, you have no choice but to listen to whatever is playing on the bandstand, which wasn’t great for my mother who wanted an early night.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, lovely room and balcony

Great team of staff ; always helpful and chatty what makes for good customer service , the manager is also hands-on and visible ,interacting with guests which is a good sign ; fantastic single room with sea view and looking straight down on the bandstand ( free concerts). Floor board creek like mad but is part of the hotels charm!; reminds me of childhood sea side holiday

Spacious clean room. Bathroom could do with updating. Good location on sea front by the bandstand. 5 mins to town and 10 mins to station. A drinks fridge in the room would be nice.
