Great customer service. Balcony area could need more attention but the room otherwise was great. Amenities such as the pool area were well maintained. Food in the restaurant took a while to come but tasted great and incredible portion size. Breakfast buffet was great as well, with lots of food options.

I stayed at the Northgate Hotel for two nights and was pleased with the overall experience. The hotel is decent and well-maintained, and the staff were excellent—friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout my stay. Upon check-in, the hotel staff recommended the restaurant located on the first floor. I tried the seafood kothu roti on May 19 and was genuinely impressed. Though the dish was dark in colour, it was packed with flavour and had a great mix of seafood—I could taste shrimp, cuttlefish, and fish. It was very well prepared. The dish was reasonably priced at 1700. I also ordered a local arrack cocktail (arrack, passionfruit cordial, lime, etc.), which was refreshing and balanced. Priced at 770, it offered good value for both taste and presentation. Later that evening, I visited Machnag Bar, which is attached to the hotel. I had a 500ml Lion Beer (cost 635) and found the space comfortable and welcoming. The bar also serves food, though I had already eaten at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was included with the room, and the buffet exceeded expectations. It featured a wide selection of traditional items such as puttu, string hoppers, fish kulambu, sambar, dhal, and various sambols. Fresh milk appam (hoppers) were available on order, and they were just as I remembered from childhood—fresh, soft, and full of flavour. Our experience was so warm and welcoming.

Property was great and staff were very kind and attentive. Anytime we asked for anything they were quick to respond weather it was towels/toilet paper or laundry. Would highly recommend!

Bathroom was not clean. No hot water in the bathroom. A less than average hotel that charges at 5* rate. Would not be staying here again or recommending to anyone.

It was a good place to stay in Jaffna

Schöne große Zimmer, schicke Einrichtung. 1 Minute vom Bahnhof entfernt. Klasse Frühstücksbuffet und sauberer Pool. Ab 3. Etage schöne Aussicht. Besser weiter oben. Bei Großveranstaltung im Rooftop evtl. laut. Bei mir war’s pünktlich um Mitternacht ruhig.

Easy to locate being one of the few taller buildings.

Great staff and great food. Lots of options. It would be great if they can provide an Iron for each room. It is currently available upon request only.

Great service - convenient location ! This is my 5th or 6th visit

The team and North Gate Jaffna were accommodating and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay due to their customer service above all. The actual property is clean and well situated however, it is starting to show its age, so keep this in mind if/when booking. For example, the fan/AC is temperamental (it either doesn't work, or it is set to turbo speed- no in between). There were some issues with power outages on the second day of our stay, however, this was not an ongoing issue. Would we stay here again? Very much so. The problems do not outweigh the excellent client experience that North Gate seeks to offer its clientele.

My room back door look not working i complien twice they didn't fixed i feel unseaf to sleep and washroom comoed falis not working properly i tell them they didn't fix that too.

The staff and guest was really good, room was comfortable but the restroom need to be updated.
