When you walk into the Van der Valk lobby, you think - AMAZING this place is going to be great. Subtle tropical scents, huge pieces of art, a boutique store, wall fountain. Then you see the pool beyond and it's impressive. Huge sunshelf with loungers in the water, cabanas with no reservations, beautiful lighting and landscaping. And the beach is simply impressive, snorkel right off the short and see intact coral and many types of sea life. Then you get to the food and drink at the one restaurant (yes, you can get snacks and drinks at the pool bar, but it's small and crowded so I'll leave that off). The food here is also incredible. Fresh fish every lunch time, and sushi options for dinner. The best beef I've ever had at an all inclusive and lamb on several nights was outstanding. No on to the not so great. The room was the start of the - what did we get into. It was huge, straight out of the 1980s/1970s. Many outlets were hanging out of the walls and not tight. Our shower consisted of a shower head and a pile of broken glass bricks which only partially kept the water from spraying all over the bathroom. There were no robes, as promised from the room overview. There were multiple mosquitos several times in our room, as the seal around the door wasn't tight. The door to the bathroom wasn't a fit so it didn't close correctly. I realize they're in the process of upgrading the rooms, but it was not a luxury experience, more horrific to see once you left the lovely lobby.

Beautiful property and very friendly staff. But, we requested an airport shuttle and champagne in the room upon arrival and they dropped the ball. They required reservations for the dinner buffet, but it was open seating. Breakfast time had champagne at the hostess table, but they were warm. The food was fresh and the selection of seafood was amazing. Water bottles weren't refilled in the mini fridge unless requested. Paddle boarding, fish ID class, and driftwood painting were all very fun! Very nice burthday trip!! With some minor tweaks, it could be 5 star. I would definitely come back!

From the moment we were picked up at the hotel by the shuttle, we knew we were in great hands! Check in, delicious dining and delightful staff all contributed to a remarkable week in Bonaire! Can’t wait to come back!! Thank you

Amazing value for the money. The resort is beautiful. The food (all inclusive) is great and generous. The staff is wonderful. We will definitely return for a future vacation.

Great location. Probably the best snorkeling right off their beach!!! Yes, it’s under going renovation, but it never bothered us, then again we were oceanfront. Food was great, especially, if you like sushi. Parking isn’t great, due to construction right now. First time visitors should get a truck/4x4 if they want to go anywhere. Taxis are way overpriced, and there is so much to see.

The refurbished areas were beautiful! The older rooms were very spacious but the shower set-up did not make sense the faucet faced out towards the sink and would spray the bathroom. The ceiling in the bathroom was not suited for moist environments. The gym was great with new equipment but you had to remember to bring a towel from your room as they did not supply them in the gym. Unfortunately the spa was not completed. Communication was not great, my sister had ordered an airport shuttle but no one arrived to pick us up. She also ordered champagne to her room for her bday but that didn’t happen. The pillows on the bed were so uncomfortable. Food, atmosphere, and music were great! The snorkeling was epic!! Had a very relaxing vacation

The staff were fantastic - friendly and helpful. When we showed up without our luggage they rang the resort's boutique manager and she came in, opened up the boutique, and helped my family shop for clothing to hold us over until our luggage arrived. The recently renovated resort was beautiful and its location was convenient to the airport and nearby shopping/dining in Kralendijk.

Terrific new renovations, great food, good snorkeling at their beach. There are some things to see on Bonaire, but you could just stay on the property and have a great time.

The snorkeling from shore was amazing. Wide variety of fish of different size, and every day different ones. Nice variety of food at each meals, all delicious. Constant breeze so even though it's hot, it doesn't feel muggy. Only downside is they need more loungers at the beach. If you don't go down early, everything is reserved even though the resort says it's not allowed.

Great property and excellent don't operations with Toucan on-site! Still need to work on listing allergens and providing more allergen friendly options (especially for dessert), as my wife is highly gluten intolerant and I'm dairy intolerant. Otherwise, it's a great place to stay and dive!!

Do not recommend this property. With the price, I was highly disappointed. It is VERY outdated. Our room was very old and smelled, mattress was brown and covered by a sheet and 2 thin blankets. Shower was old and molded, service was very slow and inconvenient. Bar service was bad, overall very unimpressed.

Really enjoyed our stay as Van Der Valk Plaza. Some of the older rooms are a little in need ot repair but overall they are fine. Renovated rooms are really nice and i think they are progressing same for the older areas. Really nice place overall

really my only complaint was that it was the same food/Menu all week. Everyday the same things to pick from. I have never been to a all inclusive resort where they don't change the buffet. Front desk weren't always helpful. No one to showed us to our room so we walked in circles a bit with our luggage to FIND our room. The rooms were nice, Clean and Large. The bar staff were all nice and kept our glasses filled. hotel was absolutely beautiful.

Prachtig resort dat nog wel in aanbouw is. Hier hadden we overigens geen last van. Er heerst een aangename rust, die wij af en toe verpestte met onze 2 kids. Keuze uit privé zwembad en privé strand. De kwaliteit van het all-in is uitmuntend, de afwisseling wat minder. De service is okay, personeel is vriendelijk maar er lijkt soms wat aansturing te missen. Er zijn geen speelgelegenheden voor kinderen (buiten het glijbaantje in het zwembad). Onze kamer was wat oud, donker, versleten en het toilet rook bij binnenkomst naar urine. Vroege checkin (om 12u) kostte $10,-. Bij vroege check out kregen we dit niet terug ;-) en een babybedje kostte additioneel $10 per nacht, wat we bijzonder vonden. Al met al een prima resort, waar de verbouwing nog meer aan zal toevoegen .
