Dear Hotels.com, I recently stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Skopje and unfortunately had a very negative experience at check-in. While trying to communicate in English, there was a small misunderstanding. Instead of assisting me professionally, the receptionist directly told me: “your English is very bad.” This was an extremely rude, unprofessional, and humiliating remark. As a paying guest, I expect respect and hospitality—not to be insulted or mocked for my language skills. I felt belittled in front of other guests, which is completely unacceptable. I am not looking for a simple apology. I expect concrete action from the hotel’s management regarding this incident. Allowing staff to treat guests in this manner seriously damages the Hilton brand and undermines the trust of customers booking through Hotels.com. I request that Hotels.com formally address this with the property and provide me with a clear explanation of how this situation will be resolved. Sincerely, Arda Karadağ

Reception staff really friendly. Housekeeping needs to improve tremendously. Although bathroom was clean enough, the toilet inner part needed a good clean. There was mould/ grime on the tile corners of the floor. Towels were very old. Under the bed had a lot of fluff and an old tissue, not surprised as the room wasn’t vacuumed one of the days. Handwash, tissues and even coffee sachets were not replenished, so had to request these. Coffee mugs and glasses were not cleaned but the covers were put over them. Overall a good enough stay but not 5 star!

Hotel is located 45 min walk from city center. Taxi takes you to the airport in 20 min. If you have a car, there is a free parking at the hotel. Reception had always nice welcoming service. The lobby and its restaurant is spacious and welcoming. The breakfast was an extra cost but it was nice. The service at breakfast was great among cooks but waiters were a bit impolite (no service). The breakfast included eggs the way you like, sausages and local dishes, different breads, cheese, ham, fruits, juice, coffee, some pastries. The room was big enough for two. But since we were three, it was a bit small. The two twin beds were 120 cm wide so a bit small for three adults. Also we did not have service for three, although we paid for three people accommondation. We had only two towels, classes, water bottles, so on. It did not bother us since there were bath ropes available. There was a AC which was really needed in July. There is a very nice gym and spa downstairs with its own elevator. It was free of charge for the quests. The hotel was clean and we felt very safe. I would love to stay there again. Although have to say the price was a bit high for the country's price level. Maybe due to the time of the year, we paid a bit extra. We asked for taxi when ever we needed and they had fixed prices for all our trips which was convenient.
