Room was big with decent beds, but it was old, poorly maintained. Lights by bed didnt work, main light was dim, window only ope ns a couple of inches, bathroom and toilet dirty, bath tub is high up from the floor and hard to step out of if you are short. Chairs were dirty too. The lady at check in was nice but all the other staff seemed disinterested in helping us or making us feel valued. One completely ignored me when i said hello and went up to the desk to ask a question. I asked about staying another night due to a change of plans and wanting to stay near the train station - i was quoted almost double the price i was already paying for the same room, i asked about a possible late check out and was abruptly shot down with a no. They didnt even look to try and accommodate the request. In the end we moved to another hotel close by for the rest of our stay. The only good things were the size of the room, the location right next to the abbey and bus/train station and the free coffee/tea/milk/biscuits in the room

Parking behind

Parking was easy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean. The beer garden was nice to sit in, although some areas would benefit from a little tlc. The menu was average, but nice food. We would stay there again.

Parking is limited but easy to get too. Linen nice and clean, towels and bedding. Tea and coffee provided in room. Only problem is that twice we have visited the hotel recently and had problems with the shower, no cold water therefore water was too hot, and previously shower handle broke off. First time another room was provided, second time offered a change of room or a room for a shower, staff offered a solution. All staff very friendly.

We were disappointed that there was no food on the evening we arrived or any breakfast provided. This was not made clear to us. Also there were a great deal of stairs for us who are elderly and my husband is disabled walking with two sticks. When I phoned and mentioned this I was told that there is a ramp!!!! which there was in to the back door. Also It would be good to have written directions on how to access the parking.

I stayed in a comfortable and spacious single room with a lovely view of Selby Abbey. Check-in was straightforward, and it was great that there was free parking. The location, in the centre of the town, was excellent. The room was a little over-warm for my taste, and wi-fi was extremely poor, with no internet connection.

On trying to check in we were asked to pay again as the payment to Hotels.com did not show on their system. I produced our receipt for payment and was told I would have to wait until after 4pm when the manager came on duty. We were also informed they no longer do breakfast although it was included in our booking. I was told the price for the room had been reduced to reflect this and that I would need to claim the difference from Hotels.com. The room was ok and the location was fine for our visit to a concert at the abbey.

Friendly welcome, help with internet, comfy bed spotless modern bathroom. A delight.

Was a bit noisy outside our room, however the room its self was comfy with a good shower & comfy bed

no food available l, kitchens closed, it was a good base for what we needed

Room was very comfortable , warm and had everything I would expect. I would stay again if I was in the area.

We got a call from Expedia saying that they were over booked. We had a call from the George only 2 days before asking if we’re still coming as their computer had issues, I Said yes we’re coming as we had already paid then Nothing from the George inn. Expedia were great and sorted out alternative accommodation. I always book with Expedia and this is why!!!!

Intitially, I felt the George and room were a bit shabby. That said, we made to feel very welcome, room was warm and comfy and breakfast was excellent. I would stay again.

Lovely stay for the night . Staff were lovely . Room was lovely beds nice and comfy . Not overly noisy seeing as it was in the market square either . Free parking too .

In shopping area. It was a weekday so nice and quiet. The room isn't posh but had all we needed and was clean and spacious. Breakfast was lovely served by lovely staff. Would definitely stay again
