Shocked that this property is actually operated as a Voco/IHG brand - it’s more like a poor holiday inn express.
It’s a very peculiar set up, like a mini mall, with a heavy influence of Chinese outlets.
The hotel doesn’t have it’s own restaurant, catering is actually contracted out to other companies who are in the building - and btw, the breakfast is woeful, instant coffee from a jar!
Our room, whilst clean, had clearly been occupied by a smoker(s), so the smell was ingrained. Room facilities were adequate, but the cheap laminate flooring was uneven in places, and the old-style alarm clock was a bizarre feature.
As usual in properties where customer experience does not appear to be the owner’s top priority, it is the front line staff who are left doing their best to make this as pleasant as possible, and this was the case here.
Unless travel disruption forces you to stay here, I would recommend you avoid it.
