This is going to be a strange review... It appears this hotel is under new management and a concerted effort to update is underway. On the downside, the pool is disassembled, the outer shell is worn and faded, the sign is almost unreadable. On the inside, there are new vinyl floors, new paint, new locks, new artwork. The beds are lower end but in good shape. Window AC with only controls on the unit. Breakfast is pre-prepared since there doesn't seem to be a kitchen unit-lots of sweetened cereal, pastries, nice fruit, terrible coffee and no protein. Staff were very sweet, although I didn't see much of them over the two days-there isn't someone at the front desk most of the time. The area is struggling: lots of older houses, new huge apartment blocks, a Goth music venue, two "massage parlours" and an X-rated bookstore. No restaurant in easy walking distance. No grocery store. Rapid transit is good, though, the bus that goes downtown to East Town mall is right outside the door with a weather protected stop. So, if you just need a place to sleep and you've got your transportation, entertainment and dining under control? Nice place at a great price. If you want a hotel to do more than just give you a place to sleep, look elsewhere.

While the outside of the property appears to be a little rough around the edges, the inside of the facility is well maintained. Iv read previous complaints about how loud the air conditioning is but I would say its about as loud as a box fan, so those claims seem greately exaggerated. The morning breakfast is nothing fancy and consists of cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit and pre-packaged breakfast pastries. The staff at this hotel have been very friendly during my 5 day stay. If I return to Madison I would likely stay at this hotel again. The highlight for me is there is a metro bus station across the street, which makes traversing the city very convenient and inexpensive (as many parking garages in madison charge upwards of 20-30$).

I wish tell people that the breakfast in the morning is all self served. And at 7 AM you have to open the door yourself. I was sitting there waiting for 30 minutes, not knowing what to do. The bed was also very hard, not comfortable at all. But overall friendly staff.

It was very affordable. Did not like the renovations

I booked this room 6 months ago (January) for the Morgan Wallen concert and made attempts to message the staff/venue in February via the Hotels app and then several calls to various numbers via this app and Google as trying to situate check-in but never a response (or good number). Arrive early Saturday to try and situate this prior to concert, no staff anywhere, call the # on sign, told they will text a code when room is ready (around 4p), they forgot as I had to call them again to confirm this. Get there that night, wrong code & locked out. Try and ring the bell, no response. Have to text them and get a new code. Room was not cleaned well, floors need to be mopped, stains on sheets, bathroom was skeptical. I was supposed to have 1 king, got 2 queens. 1 was totally un-usable and horribly uncomfortable with springs stabbing your back. Still never once saw someone of 'staff' the entire time we stayed. And not enough parking for guests, have to park on street.

Was told this is a bad area of town with high crime and shootings close by. Hotel room is very small. Air conditioning and bathroom light are super loud. Bathroom is very old. Do yourself a favor and spend more money for some place nicer. Also tried to check in early and was told it would cost $50. That’s more than half the room price.

This is an older property but the owners appear to be updating things nicely. It’s not fancy but is a good value. We’ve stayed here twice in the last year.

Ahead of our stay we were given a code to get in the front door and for our room. We arrived around 5:30p.m. on a Sunday and left around 8:45 a.m. Monday morning. It was earie because there was absolutely no one around at all. It felt like we were there by ourselves The room was very basic which was fine.

There was no lights in room except in ceiling, so it was pitch dark or interrogation room bright. First floor rooms looked out on the grills of parked car. No waste basket in room except in the bathroom. It's obvious they're in the middle of renovating and old property, and I hope they get better, but it was a weird stay.

It was perfect

A great value overall if you choose to ignore: Wait for staff on call to check-in, some items in room not working (bathroom lock), no sound proof windows means you hear the traffic at night, especially the motor bikes loud and clear, slow renovation inside (assume goes on for multiple months/years).

The property wasn’t bad. The only thing that I didn’t like was the tv. They don’t have cable, they have smart tv’s. That’s all great but I don’t have all the apps like Netflix, Hulu, prime… so I couldn’t watch tv while I was there. Other than that it was a quiet, cozy place.

The noise and people around cause an issue. Also the incident that happened and the party that was victim was not given proper treatment since the other was the one who actually instigated and cause the incident to escalate.

I want my security deposit back

The bathroom wasn't clean. There was hair on the floor and in the tub. The bathroom smelled like cigarettes. The sheets had stains on them and there was no matteess protector.

Terrible. The smell through out the building , red stains on bed comforter. Whole 1st floor under remodel, washers , stained smelly mattresses, randomly in the walkway. Experienced all on the this within 5 minutes , asked for a refund , owner refused.
