Not only is this a beautiful hotel with wonderful amenities and rooms... It's the staff that makes the difference. They were great and I appreciate everyone.

Worth every penny spent . In the heart of Stone town. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Spacy rooms very comfartable bed and pillow. Tastefully decorrated. We stayed for 3 nights and came back at the end of our trip to stay for our last night. They welcomed us back saying welcome back to your home. There was a lovely card in the room saying how happy they are to see us back in thrşr hotel. All in all very well run luxury boutique hotel.

The Neela is truly a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the bustling Stone Town. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the quality and attention to detail at this remarkable hotel. The food was nothing short of outstanding—honestly, some of the best we’ve ever had. Every meal felt like a fine dining experience, with flavors that left a lasting impression. The staff were exceptional—attentive, warm, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure a memorable stay. Their service was impeccable, making us feel right at home. One of the highlights of our visit was the rooftop cocktail bar. The drinks were absolutely top-tier—some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had, with unique flavors and expert craftsmanship. All in all, The Neela exceeded every expectation, offering luxury, incredible service, and an unforgettable experience in Stone Town. Highly recommended!

Fantastic stay! Such a lovely gem tucked away in a convenient and easy-to-access location. Staff was so friendly and helpful, rooms effortlessly embody understated luxury, and the restaurant, Breadfruit, is divine.

Stop looking and just book at the Neela. It’s perfect. We were so comfortable, the food was fantastic, and the staff friendly and professional. I will definitely be recommending to all of my friends. Thank you!

I stayed here for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience, from the lovely check-in with hibiscus juice in the gorgeous art filled lobby, to the nicely decorated room with the most modern finishes, to the amazing food! Only ate lunch out as I’m sure there is no better food on the island! Beautiful kind attentive staff. Lovely French press in the room with Tanzanian coffee. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

This is a lovely hotel, very comfortable bed, convenient location in Stone Town. The staff is very nice. However, we will never stay there again as we had major security problems. Items of ours were hidden so the staff could keep them once we left (we found my husband's had, lost my $80 sandals which were not in my suitcase at the next stop. Much worse, all the credit cards in my wallet were photographed and $20,000 charges attempted, which results in ALL my cards being cancelled. I would have been totally out of luck when I got to the next destination and had to rent a car.

Totally beautiful hotel - the food, decor and how modern it is. A pure gem within Stonetown

This is a gorgeous luxury hotel in the heart of stone town. The staff was incredible and went out of their way to ensure our stay was memorable. The hotel was exceptionally clean. The food and drinks are amazing. We could walk everywhere including markets, hurumzi, and forodhani gardens. Thank you to all the wonderful staff who made us want to come back again soon!

Staff were wonderful, including but by no means limited to: Tatu, Pendael, Pili, Ayubu, Zainaband Celestine. The room and facilities are beautiful and well kept. Rooftop restaurant/bar is a wonderful place.

Beautiful property, excellent staff. I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel and how organized and clean it was. It was a beautiful hotel. I'm not often impressed but this hotel was lovely. Couple things I would have changed if I was being nitpicky: hot water did not last long and bathrooms are open concept (no door, making it hard for families to share a room and have privacy). Even with these small things, I would go back to Neela in a heart beat.

Love this hotel! Friendly staff that went over and beyond to make us happy and make our stay memorable, simple but beautiful decor, lovely rooms, amazing shower with lots of pressure which is exactly what you need after a long trip of after exploring stone town and the food… my oh my… it’s delicious! I have found my favorite hotel in stone town after many many years!

The bed was very comfortable and staff responsive.
