We are a family of four, with two college-age children, and had a wonderful stay at the Samovar. We stayed in one of the family rooms, which was perfect for us (with two beds in a spacious upstairs loft). The hotel is perfectly located -- literally across the street from the Dailles gondola (and only about a block from the funicular to the summit). There are a couple of restaurants nearby, including a great Savoyarde spot across the street. There is a regular shuttle bus to the main village of Val d'Isere that leaves from right in front of the hotel as well (and it's only a 20 minute and very scenic walk to the village anyway). The ski room is convenient (and heated). The breakfast was plentiful and delicious (if fairly standard for a European hotel of this quality), and the dinner at the hotel restaurant was surprisingly good and reasonably priced. The spa was a big plus as well, with a sauna and jacuzzi pool in the basement. Finally, the staff deserve special mention -- particularly Abdur at the front desk. He was friendly, welcoming, and always helpful, consistently asked how things were going. On our last day, when we asked to store our luggage after checkout for the day while we skiied, he graciously took charge of our seemingly endless number of bags, stored them for the day, and then brought them down to the side entrance so we could easily load them into the car. All in all, a terrific hotel. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Perfect ligging om te skiën 10/10 Service is ondermaats - we ontbreken een glimlach en vriendelijkheid - ontbijt pas van 08,00u (vroeger kan je niet binnen) - in de bar zit niemand - ondanks leuk ingericht - en er is niet altijd iemand aanwezig - skimateriaal / skilaarzen niet verwarmd met als gevolg dat deze de dag erna nog steeds nat zijn - wanneer iets te vroeg terug in het hotel merk je dat de verwarming af staat in de kamers en het warm water pas vanaf een bepaald uur terug beschikbaar is. Zwembad is een voetbad - stoomkamer defect - sauna redelijk OK. Ik herhaal, het is de ligging van het hotel die echter de doorslag kan geven.

The location is excellent, the ski lifts are just across the road a short walk away. The free shuttle bus stop is also at the front of the hotel, which gives easy access to central Val d'Isere (or you can walk there in about 20 minutes if you prefer). We also liked the buffet breakfast and the dinners in the hotel restaurant. The (double bed) room itself was a bit on the small side but the bed was comfy, bathroom decently sized and everything was clean. There are also heated ski lockers downstairs for the equipment. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Overall the place offered good value for money and can be highly recommended!

We only stayed here one night, to extend our ski break, but will stay again for longer. Hotel is very homely and open feeling, food is excellent and reasonably priced. The Location is also good as bus stops right outside the door making it super easy to travel to Val D’isere centre in 3 minutes. In the mornings walk across the road and the ski lifts are right there! We stayed in a family room (No.21) which has a lovely upstairs Childers sleeping area our daughter loved. Highly recommended
