On arrival, I was told the government didn't allow me to stay in the building as a foreigner. Instead of the place I'd picked for being 2 minutes from the metro with "deluxe" in the title, I was assigned to another "Shri Sai Guest House" that would only be 11 minutes from the metro if the gravelly road to it weren't clogged by crazed traffic and my phone and I didn't have to keep working hard to find it. It had no shower, no toilet paper, and hot and cold water only available through separate taps. I could feel every spring of the mattress. The window let in a mosquito that never let me sleep.

Room had Broken tile, broken wash basin, broken shower handle hanging out of wall. Sheets were dirty and had holes and were too small for the bed. bought a blanket to put on top so I could sleep. Staff was friendly but unresponsive. After two requests for a towel and no action I found one in open staff closet. Not told that I had to activate geezer switch to get hot water. And then hot water lasted only 30 seconds both times I tried. Hotels.com had this rated at a 10 with five phony 10 rated reviews. I have stayed in Delhi more than 20 times at 4 star to 2 star hotels. This was the second worse I have seen. There was also a disgusting brown smear on wall by the bed.

Great experience staying at Hotel Shri Sai Deluxe. The location is convenient, and the service was prompt. The room was tidy and the bed was comfortable. A solid choice for a hassle-free stay.
