Travel Checklist to Seoul, South Korea 2022 for Malaysians

Travel alert! Seoul is opening its doors, and we are sprinting towards it. Before you grab the first flight to Seoul, take a step back and make sure all the preparations are set.

But, no worries, we got your back! This is a brief travel checklist you can use to help with your preparations for Seoul.

Travel Requirements to Enter Seoul for Malaysians

Before you hop on the first plane out, check the latest entry requirements below. If you need more information, refer to our Traveloka Travel Info & Requirements.

1.
If you are fully vaccinated, you can skip the quarantine requirement.
2.
Before your flight, you must register your proof of vaccination through the Quarantine COVID-19 Defence system.
3.
Whether fully vaccinated or unvaccinated, you must present a printed negative COVID-19 test result taken no more than 48 hours before departure.
4.
The COVID-19 approved test by the Seoul Korean authority is PCR, TR-PCR, LAMP, TMA, SDA, and NEAR.
5.
You must undergo an arrival COVID-19 test on day sixth or seventh.

Flight Details to Enter Seoul for Malaysians

Flying time from Kuala Lumpur to Seoul will take around six hours or so if you take direct flights to Incheon International Airport (ICN). It can reach up to 20 hours if you are taking transit flights (don’t take transit flights, why are you torturing yourself?).

Some airlines offer flight tickets from MYR 900+ to MYR 4,000+, but the gap depends on whether you take direct flights or transit flights (again, stay away from transit flights). That’s the beauty of Traveloka; you can simply compare your prices simultaneously.

1. Gyeongbokgung Palace

This sacred place has been dubbed “a palace where the new king can enjoy [the] prosperity of great blessings.”

You can stroll through the palace as the environment will take you back in time to live as they have lived.

Fun fact: If you stick around between 9:30 am to 2 pm, you can witness the Royal Guard Changing Ceremony!

Location: 161, Sajik-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Operation hours: 9 am to 5 pm (November to February), 9 am to 6 pm (March to May), 9 am to 6 pm (September to October), 9 am to 6:30 pm (June to August)
Entrance fees: 3,000 won (Adults) and 1,5000 won (Teenagers & Children)

2. N Seoul Tower

N Seoul Tower is the iconic tower in Seoul. It is the epitome of Seoul’s identity as an advance and modern country.

At the top, you can immerse yourself in a 360 degrees view of the whole city. Pro-tip, you should go at night, it will give you a view of a lifetime.

What to know:

Location: 105, Namsangongwon-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul
Operation hours: 10 am to 11 pm (Sunday to Friday), 10 am to 12 MN (Saturday)
Entrance fees: 10,000 won (Adults) and 8,000 won (Children)

3. Namiseom Island

Namiseom, also known as Nami Island, is a famous half-moon-shaped river island that attracts tourists, but even locals are frequent visitors to this popular site.

Fun fact: It has been in popular Korean shows as the perfect romance-inducing scene.

What to know:

Location: Namiseom Island is accessible via ferry from Namiseom Dock
Operation hours: 7:30 am to 9:40 pm daily
Entrance fees: 10,000 won (Adults), 8,000 won (Teens), 4,000 won (Age 3 to elementary) and 8,000 won (foreign tourists)

4. Lotte World

Welcome to the theme park of your dreams! Lotte World is a major recreation complex in Seoul.

Apart from the traditional theme park we can imagine, they also include an artificial island linked by monorail, shopping malls, a luxury hotel, a Korean folk museum, sports facilities and movie theatres.

Location: Lotte World, 240, Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul
Operation hours: 9:30 am to 10 pm (Monday to Thursday), 9:30 am to 11 pm (Friday to Sunday)
Entrance fees: 55,000 won (Adults), 48,000 won (Teenagers), 44,000 won (Children) and 14,000 won (Infants)

5. Museum Kimchikan

If you like kimchi, you will love the Museum Kimchikan. This museum is dedicated exclusively to kimchi.

From here, you can pretty much learn everything about kimchi; the history, the popularity it captures worldwide, the tastings and even cooking classes!

Location: 35-4, Insadong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Operation hours: 10 am to 6 pm (Tuesday to Sunday)
Entrance fees: 5,000 won (Adults), 3,000 won (Elementary to HS Students) and 2,000 won (Children)
