The most famous view in Singapore — and one of the most recognisable in the world. The SkyPark Observation Deck sits on the 56th floor of the Marina Bay Sands, 200 metres above sea level, with a 360-degree panorama that takes in the entire Marina Bay waterfront, Gardens by the Bay's Supertrees and conservatories, the Singapore Flyer, the CBD skyline, Sentosa Island, and on a clear day, the southern coast of Malaysia across the strait. The public observation deck is separate from the hotel's infinity pool (which is exclusively for hotel guests).
Price: Approximately SGD 32–40 per adult depending on time slot. Prices are indicative; verify current rates before booking. Book in advance online — evening slots sell out quickly. Best time: One hour before sunset, staying through blue hour, gives the widest range of lighting conditions in a single visit.
The Henderson Waves is a 274-metre pedestrian bridge that connects Mount Faber Park and Telok Blangah Hill Park as part of the Southern Ridges walking trail — and it is arguably the most spectacular free view in Singapore. The bridge stands 36 metres above ground, undulating in a wave form across the forest canopy, offering sweeping panoramas of the city skyline to the north and the southern harbour and islands to the south. At night, the bridge is illuminated — the combination of the glowing wave-form bridge with the city lights in the background creates one of the most atmospheric night views in Singapore. Completely free, accessible 24 hours.
The Marina Barrage is a dam at the southern tip of the main island that doubles as one of the best free viewpoints in the city. The green rooftop lawn, open 24 hours, is a favourite spot for kite-flying families on weekends and sunset picnickers on weekday evenings. From here, the entire Marina Bay panorama is visible including Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the Esplanade, and the CBD — at a different angle from the standard Merlion Park view and with enough space to actually sit and linger. Completely free.
The Singapore Flyer is one of the world's largest observation wheels — 165 metres tall, with 28 air-conditioned capsules, each accommodating up to 28 passengers. A single rotation takes approximately 30 minutes, during which passengers rise from ground level to the highest point and back, with a constantly changing 360-degree panorama. The views cover Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the CBD, Sentosa, and on clear days, the Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan. The Time Capsule immersive gallery on-site tells the story of Singapore's transformation.
Price: Approximately SGD 40 per adult. Prices are indicative; verify current rates before booking. Best time: Sunset for the most dramatic colour transitions; after dark for the fully illuminated city.
An underutilised gem: the observation deck on the 56th floor of ION Orchard shopping mall offers a 360-degree view of the Orchard Road corridor and beyond, including a clear sightline toward Marina Bay Sands and the CBD. Access is free with a minimum spend at ION Orchard — meaning a coffee at any of the mall's cafés qualifies. A significantly better-value alternative to the SkyPark for those primarily interested in a city view rather than the full Marina Bay panorama.
The 10-kilometre Southern Ridges trail connecting Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park, and Labrador Nature Reserve offers a sustained series of elevated city and harbour views entirely for free. The Forest Walk — a step-free elevated walkway through the forest canopy — and the Henderson Waves bridge are the architectural highlights. The trail can be joined at multiple points and exited at others, making it easy to tailor the length of visit. Best access point: HarbourFront MRT station (CC29/NE1) is closest to the Henderson Waves end of the trail.
