i was under the impression that the property was an old style pub with rooms, when i booked. But it turns out just to be a bed and breakfast. The room was lovely and had everything you need, plus more, like a trouser press, a bottle of filtered water with the coffee and tea facilities, a microwave in the shared lobby and plenty of parking and nice outside space to spend in the sunshine/evening

I was a bit confused about this property. The welcoming sign still says The Plough Inn, whereas the booking says AbingPlough. It seems a bit of a mish-mash shambles to be honest. But the beds were clean and comfortable. The young woman who looked after us was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was probably a 6/10. Even though we'd pre-ordered items they weren't correct and some were cold. Highly recommend the nearby Barley Mow for dinner. Very good. I think it serves breakfast on some days too. Overall it was fine for the price, and the small village is picture perfect. Just bring earplugs so guests coming and going to other rooms (all off the same small corridor) don't wake you.

Booked a deluxe single room and it was a substandard double. Not everyone would be happy with a double bed when booked single. Instructions were to message if arriving after 4pm. I didn't know an exact arrival time, however they asked for my mobile and time again, so could provide self checkin, so gave estimated arrival and mobile, then they didn't respond. On arrival it says ring both bells but nobody came for few minutes then sounded impatient as expected me to just walk in! Had to pre-book breakfast for both days at start. Told breakfast 8-9am, but still being set out at 8.15 on first day. Was not told how it worked so just had to work it out. Terrible hosting. Scrambled eggs had brown flecks through it day 1 and was more like fried beaten up eggs on day 2 with dark brown base. Both days was only luke warm. On day 2 cooked food arrived before I'd hardly started my cereal. I wasn't happy with my room either, very dusty, orange pips on the floor, a half drunk bottle bottle of drink in the bottle cooler, out of date UHT milk, no biscuits as shown in the photos, no mirror in the bathroom just fittings for one, shower head didn't fit in the holder properly and fell on me twice, shower temperature control did not work so too hot, (I tried turning it both ways!), extension socket from an extension sockets (how did that pass safety check?), one window had no closure and not a decent lock on door so concerned for my safety especially as all single glazed. Room scruffy

Excellent location for easy access to Abingdon and Oxford park and ride. We were attending a graduation and needed an early start - breakfast is normally served at 8, but the proprietor was gracious enough to serve ours at 7:30 so that we could get into Oxford on time.

Room was okay, shower really good. No breakfast available, no staff around to ask why there wasn't anyway. I booked this hotel as it had breakfast included

Room was ok, lots of webs on the wall, the room heating system was not adequate, breakfast was in the price but rescinded on arrival due to staff shortages

Very good value. A characterful place. Clean room with comfortable bed. Friendly owners. Close to the Barley Mow pub where we had a very tasty evening meal.

The facility itself wasn't bad at all, but the noise next door unbearable. I complained many times to management but nothing happened. So for the whole week of working away I didn't manage to sleep at all. it either loud talks, arguments or loud music.

Although breakfast was included. There was no breakfast. Even though the other guest that helped us said there was.nobody on reception to let us in on arrival,very dark. The worst experience we have had staying in hotels and we have done many over the years

Room was slightly outdated, however it was clean, breakfast was very basic, 1 of each item, and you boil a kettle for tea. Rooms not attached to main building.

The room was spotless, heating on prior to arrival. I was offered an upgrade on the room which was a nice gesture. The bathroom was clean and had extra towels, the TV has a good selection of free to view and stresming options. A cooked breakfast was also included.

The breakfast was lovely and the room is well appointed, with filter water, good quality coffee, a large bathroom with shower over bath. The double bed is very comfortable, with durable and good quality linen, fresh towels and other extras such as a mini fridge/wine cooler.

My stay at the Abingplough was relaxing and enjoyable. The room was well appointed, comfortable with shower and large bath, additional fresh towels and wine chiller. Large wide screen LCD TV with a range of channels. The hotel offered veggie options for breakfast and had excellent coffee.

Good staff and nice old building. Needed more heating though.

On first impressions the place was good but after some time we started to see some things that weren’t nice. First the shower didn’t work properly so the water temperature was extremely hot. As we were staying only for 2 nights we didn’t feel the need to complain but it we were to have stayed longer we would of complained and let them know. The room had many spider webs and a spider on the bed. The bathroom didn’t have a good clean and the tap was dirty. We felt as if someone had left the room and they only changed the bed before we came in. On a good note the bed was very comfortable and the room was a good size. The breakfast experience wasn’t the best, we saw that there was only one person serving and cooking the breakfast so I get why the service was slow. Once we received the breakfast one was half cooked and cold and the other was like warm. The toast felt like it had been made way in advance as it was stale and cold. The women on the front desk that greeted us was very lovely and welcoming which was nice. The place is really nice, and a really good price. There are just a few things that would need to be better. We didn’t have a bad time but if we were to have been there for longer I would of looked for somewhere else.

Staff were polite. Rooms could use a lick of paint and freshening up. Breakfast on first morning was cold. Had a family sat on next table and who like us had to pre order breakfast at check in had bacon put on their plate. They do not eat bacon as part of their religion so the man cooking breakfast just used his fingers and took the bacon off the plate.

Worse place we’ve ever stayed. We booked this B&B hoping for a cosy retreat, but unfortunately, our experience was anything but restful. The first room we were given had faulty wiring in the bathroom and stairs that led from the bedroom to the bathroom. The lights in the bathroom flickered ominously and kept going out. The stairway light didn’t work at all. There was also an incessant clicking sound that would have made sleeping difficult for anyone. Health and safety was a real concern. After raising the issue, we were moved to another room, which sadly proved no better. The new room was damp, with a musty smell that lingered. The carpet was poorly fitted, the mattress was extremely old and uncomfortable, and there were other examples of poor maintenance and general neglect throughout. Cleanliness was questionable, and the furniture felt very ad hoc and mismatched. We appreciate the staff’s attempt to relocate us, but the overall condition of the property was unacceptable. We overheard another client complain that he had no heat in his room. We decided to err on the side of caution and go else where for breakfast. This B&B needs serious maintenance and a rethink of what constitutes a comfortable guest experience.
