We spent the afternoon in the spa…. was red hot & they weren’t allowed to open the doors as the outside space hadn’t been tidied up…. it’s August & we’ve had some beautiful weather. The loungers were all stained & shabby looking. We chose to eat in the bar & the menu is very limited. Room was lovely. It used to be our favourite place but not sure if we’d hurry back 😩

To be honest it's ok for a one night stay. The staff are great but the building itself is a health risk, with holes hidden in the floor underneath the carpet. I went over in one and twisted my ankle . Every time you walk across the bedroom floors they creek and bend as you walk . The dinner was a rip off. The fish was supposed to be fresh ? No it was frozen what I call ding ding food . The chopped a small potato into cubes and put tomato relish with it. £26 wow ! Yes it's old I understand that but it's too old to serve a purpose as a hotel.would I recommend it ? Definitely not !

The staff were fantastic, really nice. The room was massive, but missed out on 5-star as the shower was pathetic; there was a better shower in the pool. Food was a good selection, and the beer on tap was fantastic. Overall, I had a great break. It would have been excellent if the shower in the room had power.not like dripping tap

Do not book spa rooms , in basement far away from main building, lots of ups and downs in separate lifts and long walks. And getting lost. Rooms no view except for brick wall. NEED CAR , bit isolated.

We stayed as 2 adults and 18 month old and found facilities great. Its abit tired in places and family changing room at swimming needs a good clean. The room was hit as we were on top floor but its an old building and we had nice weather.Breakfast was lovely and we will be back

This is an OK hotel, a bit past it's prime. It seems to cater for elderly coach parties more than anything else, and indeed we couldn't get in the restaurant one night due to 4 coach loads of people being given precedence. There is a lovely pub which does food just down the road! The pool is nice, but had run out of towels - staff did bring us one after a while.

Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön, das Personal ist sehr freundlich, das Essen sehr gut. Die Zimmer schön eingerichtet und sehr groß. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Für Paare ohne Kinder ist es sicherlich perfekt. Wenn man mit Kindern in den Ferien reist , sind die Zeiten des Schwimmbades leider relativ knapp und man ist nicht so flexibel wenn man die Umgebung erkunden möchte . Das ist aber nur ein kleiner Minuspunkt. Wir können es mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen.

Overall this is a good hotel. I wouldn't choose the basic rooms. Better to go for the better, slightly more expensive rooms. Breakfast was good

Lovely building and outdoor spaces, overall great stay, the only disappointment was no AC on a very hot day and the plug on the kettle wasn't long enough to reach the socket so I had to boil the kettle on the floor!

Unfortunately this property has passed its heyday which is a shame as the potential is there. If you are looking for a relaxing break forget it as it is geared towards hen weekends/ spa breaks and multiple weddings. Property maintenance is sadly lacking everything looks tired and rundown. The drawer in our bedside cabinet would not close and the shower barely clung onto the wall. Suggest requesting a room somewhere quiet if there is such an area. The staff we encountered were helpful and delightful.

BEST SPA STAY I HAVE STAYED AT! I have worked all round the country and this has been by far the best hotel/ spa i have stayed, beautiful grounds, lovely spa facilities, polite smiley welcoming staff! Room cleaned everyday. Didnt eat thier so carnt comment on food but so many takeaways to order from.

Great hotel. Rooms were large and well equipped. The shower was pretty poor and the hot breakfast could have been better. However, I would definitely come back again and would recommend.

Genuinely an excellent set up and stay, we extended after a wedding and it was a beautiful start to a northern holiday. Top tip ask at reception for discounted tickets to Beamish open air museum!
