Jeondeungsa is a historic Buddhist temple located on Ganghwa Island in South Korea. Established in the 4th century during the Goguryeo period, it is one of the oldest temples in the country. The temple is renowned for its beautiful architecture, including Daeungbojeon Hall, which showcases intricate wooden carvings and paintings. Within Jeondeungsa Temple, Jukrim Dawon offers beautiful scenery and an opportunity to experience traditional Korean tea culture.
Explore Daeryong Market, an exclusive destination for tourists that requires permission to enter from Haebyeongdae, the Korean marine corps responsible for protecting the nation from North Korea. This market hosts numerous shops offering a diverse selection of items, including fresh seafood, fruits, traditional Korean snacks, and household goods. What sets it apart is the distinct retro 1970-1980s Korean vibe, a unique experience not typically found in Seoul.
Visit the Ganghwa Peace Observatory, a distinctive 4-story building where the basement and 4th floor are accessible exclusively to military personnel. On the first floor, you'll find a souvenir shop, administrative office, and guest room. The second floor features a video room that offers a comparison of the North and South armies and delves into the background of the war. Head to the third floor to enjoy breathtaking views of North Korean mountains and housing, while also learning about North Korea.
Explore Hwagae Garden, situated on the scenic island of Ganghwa, which features serene gardens providing visitors with a peaceful atmosphere. The park's focal point is the Hwagae Pavilion, an awe-inspiring observatory that offers a sky-walking experience and a remarkable view of North Korea. To reach the observatory, visitors can opt for a monorail ride with an additional ticket purchase or take a leisurely stroll through the park.
