Songli Mountain

Songnisan National Park consists of three valleys: Songnisan, Hwayang, Seonyu, and Sanggok. Songnisan Mountain is one of the eight scenic spots in Korea. It is located in the middle of the Sobaek Mountain Range extending from the Taebaek Mountain Range to the southwest. It is the boundary mountain between Boeun County, Goesan County, North Chungcheong Province, and Sangju County, North Gyeongsang Province. It is 1,057 meters above sea level. It is mainly granite. The granite peaks stand straight up, and the accumulated rock parts are deeply washed away. The peaks and valleys form a wonderful scenery. Songli Mountain is also called Xiaoguang Mountain.
In Songnisan Mountain there is Beopjusa Temple, one of the largest temples in Korea. There is a leaning statue of Moya Tathagata carved on the rock in the temple. The so-called leaning statue refers to the seated statue of Bodhisattva. This leaning statue is carved with the Bodhisattva sitting on the lotus throne. The stone statue has been severely worn over time, but it still maintains its original appearance. Always present in photos of Beopjuji Temple is the 33-meter-tall bronze Maitreya Buddha, the largest single Buddha statue in the world. Songnisan Mountain has such a beautiful Beopjusa Temple, and therefore also has many treasures and national treasures consistent with its 1,500-year history. Here you can enjoy the flower of Buddhist culture blooming among many high-quality cultural relics.
There is always an endless stream of tourists coming to the deep valleys of Songrisan Mountain. Many protected natural flora and fauna in the mountain are also tourist attractions.
