3609120691863Singapore packs an extraordinary range of theme park experiences into a remarkably small geography. Sentosa Island — a 500-hectare resort island connected to the mainland by a causeway and a cable car — is the epicentre, housing Universal Studios Singapore, Adventure Cove Waterpark, the Singapore Oceanarium, and multiple additional attractions within Resorts World Sentosa. Beyond Sentosa, the Night Safari at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, Jurong Bird Park (now Bird Paradise), and the Singapore Zoo add to a theme park offering that is among the strongest in Southeast Asia. This guide covers the major options for visitors planning a theme park day in Singapore.

Universal Studios Singapore is the anchor attraction of Resorts World Sentosa and the only Universal Studios theme park in Southeast Asia. The park spans 25 hectares on Sentosa Island and contains seven themed zones arranged around a central lagoon: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away, and Minion Land (which replaced the Madagascar zone in 2024). The park features 24 rides and attractions, with 10 specifically created or adapted for Singapore.
Stand-out attractions include: Battlestar Galactica (a pair of duelling roller coasters — Cylon: Human vs Cylon — that pass within metres of each other at high speed), Transformers: The Ride (a 4D multi-sensory dark ride), Revenge of the Mummy (a classic indoor coaster in the Egyptian zone), Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure (a water ride), and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem (a motion simulator with outstanding pre-show). The Minion Land zone, the most recently updated area, is also the most family-accessible.
Opening hours: Thursday to Sunday 2 PM–10 PM; check the official website as hours vary by season. Tickets: From SGD 83 per adult for standard admission. Prices are indicative; verify current rates before booking. Advance booking strongly recommended — book online to avoid queue and often save on walk-up pricing.
Tips: Arrive at the Sentosa Express platform by 9:30 AM before gates open at 10 AM on peak days. Weekdays (Tuesday–Thursday) have significantly lower crowds. Express Passes reduce wait times substantially on popular rides.
Also within Resorts World Sentosa, Adventure Cove Waterpark is one of the finest waterparks in Southeast Asia. The park's signature experience is the Bluwater Bay wave pool — Southeast Asia's largest wave pool — alongside seven water slides of varying intensity, a 620-metre Adventure River tube ride that passes through a coral reef aquarium with over 20,000 tropical fish visible through the underwater viewing section. For a premium experience, the park offers the unique option of snorkelling in a 140,000-litre reef habitat, swimming alongside rays and fish. The park is significantly less crowded than Universal Studios Singapore on most days.
Tickets: From approximately SGD 38 per adult. Prices are indicative; verify current rates before booking. Combo tickets with USS are available.
The Night Safari at Mandai Wildlife Reserve is genuinely one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences in the world — the world's first nocturnal wildlife park, opened in 1994, which allows visitors to observe more than 2,500 animals from 130 species in a naturalistic rainforest setting, all under artificial moonlight designed to mimic natural conditions while enabling visibility. Animals including Malayan tigers, Asian elephants, fishing cats, giant flying squirrels, and various deer species are observable in large, naturalistic enclosures. The tram ride (included in admission) covers 3.2 kilometres across eight habitats; four walking trails allow more independent exploration. The Creatures of the Night animal show runs at scheduled times and is included in admission.
Opening hours: Daily 6:30 PM–midnight. Tickets: From approximately SGD 55 per adult. Prices are indicative; verify current rates before booking.
Singapore Zoo is consistently rated one of the best zoos in the world — an open-concept zoo where animals are separated from visitors by moats and natural barriers rather than cages, creating an unusually naturalistic and close-up wildlife experience. The zoo is part of the integrated Mandai Wildlife Reserve campus, which also includes the Night Safari, Bird Paradise, and River Wonders (freshwater aquarium). A full day visiting all four attractions is possible with the Mandai combo ticket.
Opening hours: Daily 8:30 AM–6 PM. Tickets: From approximately SGD 48 per adult for Singapore Zoo. Prices are indicative; verify current rates before booking.
Sentosa Island offers several additional paid attractions alongside the major theme parks: Skyline Luge (a wheeled toboggan track on four themed courses, paired with a cable ski lift to the top), AJ Hackett Sentosa (bungee jumping and giant swing), iFly Singapore (indoor skydiving simulator), and the Sentosa beaches (Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong) which are free to access. The Sentosa Boardwalk provides pedestrian access from the mainland (HarbourFront area) without requiring the Sentosa Express monorail.
