The Best option if you want to stay near Union Station. Old charm hotel, full of history. The only downside is the hallway / bedroom walls are not very well insulated against noise, so if you have noisy neighbours, you’re going to hear everything :)
Food and cocktails were excellent, pricey but worth it. Great atmosphere!

Great location - it is across the street from Union Station. The airport train runs every 15 minutes from Union and is less than a 30-minute ride. There are multiple restaurant options within walking distance.
Well-appointed room - clean and comfortable, in-room safe, steamer for clothes, robes available.
Busy lobby - dark ambiance, checkin process was smooth with welcoming staff, great areas to tuck away such as the library area and the bar/dining area, secure (need room key to access floor)
Would definitely stay here again

This hotel has forever been updating their rooms.
What was once a regal destination is mediocre at best unless you fork out for a gold experience.
I’ve personally stayed at this location many times over the past 20 years and while the common areas of the hotel is mostly enjoyed the rooms are always under maintained. Paint, caulking…always sloppy. Bathroom floor is sticky and dust bunnies collecting in the corner is disappointing.
All of this to say I would highly encourage hotel management to visit and stay at their luxury competitors in Toronto. We were given a room right next to the storage room and it was incredibly noisy from 7am-10am. Glass clinking for hours with carts rolling in and out constantly. Definitely not a relaxing getaway we were hoping for. Favourite things about this hotel is definitely the location and The Library Room Bar. The housekeeping staff is also very friendly.

This Fairmont was honestly the worst hotel experience I've ever had, and the worst property in the entire Fairmont chain by far. The building is old and poorly maintained, and the room had an unpleasant smell—especially the bathroom, which was completely unbearable.
The worst part though was the false advertising. I booked based on the photos on their website, but the room I got looked nothing like what was shown online. When I asked the staff about it, they were extremely rude and casually admitted that the photos only show their "best room" — and that they only have one of those in the entire hotel. That kind of misleading marketing is completely unacceptable.
I asked to be moved to a room that actually matched what was advertised, and the staff said they would check and get back to me — and never did. I know Fairmont properties can vary a lot by location, but this one was just terrible.

Check in was horrible. A 30
Minute wait with along line up. No apologies from staff. Understanding its world cup week, and canada day weekend and July 4th weekend Fairmont could have done better. When i finally raised a concern i got an empty apology. Staffing and streamlining guest access can be better.
