The grandness! The name matches the feel, and all of the staff are welcoming and kind.

Rooms were small, not enough towels for four people and no fridge included unless you wanted to pay $25. Lobby perfume smell was too overwhelming. Otherwise, hotel was central to everything.

We were unable to travel due to wildfires in northern Ontario and the highways Beng closed along with railway travel got cancelled. I did book non refundable and they couldn't even make an exception during a natural disaster that was out of our control. Very heartless decision.

Excellent stay, enjoyed the clean room, helpful staff, very well equipped fitness room and the sauna.

Upon arrival we were met with very engaging and friendly valet. Check-in was quick and informative. Our room was perfect with a view of the lake. Had a dreamy sleep on a very comfy bed! We will be back.

We brought our two grandsons to Toronto to celebrate the youngest’s tenth birthday. The front desk clerk was extremely welcoming and arranged a very special and personalized treat to be in our room when we returned from a day of sightseeing. Both boys felt very special with the attention shown by the staff at the Royal York!!

The Fairmont Gold experience was worth it. Staff was courteous and well trained. We really enjoyed the amenities that came with the booking.

Tuve problemas con una cancelación de vuelo y perdí una noche reservada, y por el cambio de planes necesitaba quedarme una noche adicional en el hotel, sin embargo no hubo mucha empatía por parte del personal, por lo que tuve que buscar otro hotel. No había personal de apoyo a la llegada del hotel en la noche. Adicional a un retraso en el horario del desayuno incluido por lo que al tomarlo, me lo agregaron a la cuenta final. Esta vez fue muy decepcionante.

Iconic hotel

Beautiful hotel in a great location. My issue is specific to having a small child and a stroller. The accessibility wasn’t great. The property takes up a whole block, but only one entrance is accessible, so we either had to walk around a block (simple for some, but as a solo parent with 2 small kids - this is a nightmare at the end of a long day) or carry a stroller up more than one set of steps (which would not be possible for someone with greater accessibility needs). Additionally, I found the lobby and dining areas really dark and the music to a decibel bordering on night-club. Maybe I’m just getting old?? In any case - it’s a beautiful hotel, very clean and updated. My problems are “first world” problems. But if I’m paying the price this hotel charges, I would choose next time to stay somewhere equally as nice, with adequate lighting and better accessibility.

Front desk was super good to us. Lobby fragrance was constant cologne. Too much and too strong. Maybe I’m old but the lobby music was more fit for a night club or restaurant. Too much beat and bass and noise. Expected classic elegance from Royal York but got something else. Room was big. View of the first floor roof? Didn’t expect that for what we paid . Most expensive room I ever paid and got the worse view. A roof! Washroom was out of date. Family was not comfortable using it. Washroom smelled like sewage and no ventilation or fan. Oh and the TV was so small especially compared to size of room. Room wasn’t ready at check-in time. Almost one hour late.

My family loves staying here and thinks of the Royal York as our home away from home. We can’t wait to come back.

Great hotel! A little dated but super clean and it’s a great location to walk around downtown Toronto.
