Location is wonderful. Leafy safe and quiet street. Lisa the host is very attentive and made tasty nutritious breakfasts. House is quiet with homelike feel.

I did not think that the pictures were accurate, very tight quarters for room we were in. Host Lisa was wonderful, the bathroom was a good size, breakfast every morning.

Bathroom toilet was not clean and not fully private. However, it’s in a good location and it was a good price.

The description by the Sunshine House on Hotels.com was very misleading. The room we reserved does not include a private bath. The bathroom was located down the hall from the bedroom and did not offer the privacy I expected as it’s adjacent to the nearby living room. The bedroom was extremely small and lacked any space to place our suitcases. Blotches of spackle were on the walls ( perhaps in preparation for painting the room?) and there were visible chips in the woodworking. The bed was much too high up and difficult to get into especially for seniors like myself. They did provide a step stool but not safe to use in the middle of the night. In addition there are 2 cats living in the house and allowed to roam everywhere including where food is prepared and served. There’s a slight odor of their presence. In general the place appeared worn with no noticeable improvements since they posted pictures years ago to advertise their place. Since I booked the room very far in advance and unfortunately did not read prior reviews that identified similar problems, I did not receive any type of partial refund after I decided to depart early. I spoke to the owner and tried to negotiate what I thought was a reasonable partial refund but to no avail. Buyer beware and avoid this place.

Beautiful street in a lovely neighbourhood and convenient for going to UBC graduations. Free street parking was a bonus. As for the B& B, I would say it was not quite what I expected. So this is Vancouver and for the price it is reasonable. However, I will caution you when reading the description. 1. Private bathroom- ours was not ensuite and was in a hallway at the top of the stairs, so not very private. 2. Garden view - our window looked out at the house next door. The other window had a massive table/desk which prevented us from looking out. Chairs would have been better. 3. English breakfast- not the one from England. There is a basic breakfast though which is fine. One day we missed the owner so never got the eggs. A few constructive suggestions: Bathroom needs the towel rack and toilet paper rack back up, and an overall update. Shower was fine - good water pressure and nice shampoos etc. The house itself is an old charming place with potential but it requires some updates and furniture could be placed in a more inviting way. Some cosy couches facing each other with a coffee table would be more inviting and comfortable to sit down and spend time in the shared space. Overall this was a reasonable option for a few days in Vancouver.

It was nice to have a private bedroom with a locking door and private bathroom. This is an older house and not much living space to use. Breakfast was adequate but not as pictured. Located on a quiet street with street parking.

When we arrived we were escorted by a child to a bedroom that looked nothing like what they advertised. Our room was tiny, barely room to walk around the beds. The livingroom, shared space, also looked nothing like what was advertised. We left the first night and did not return.

A beautiful home in a prime neighborhood. Very quiet and peaceful place.

No hospitality or reception to deal with. Conditions in the room unsatisfactory, bath towels are smelly. The blankets for cover body is dirty. Unfortunately same time weather is cold. Nobody there cared about this. Disappointed !!!

Very clean and well located, definitely recommended!

It would be great to have shared public areas for consumers to use. Since the owners are staying home daily, it’s not very comfortable to use the living room and kitchen. The towels are also quite smelly. It would be wonderful if the heater or air conditioning were working so that there’s fresh air circulating.

They have one room upstairs, you have to climb stairs. Bathroom is outside the room. We paid $150 dollars per night for 2 nights. First night, we hesitated to ask anything. The dust smell never ended, even though we opened windows and the door also. Bedsheets, pillow covers are silk, we cannot or ever slept on silk. One set of pillows are ok, other set had stains and looked, smelled horrible. Second day, we reported all these. The host changed the pillow covers to cotton, they are full of stains and smelled horrible. Room was still dusty behind the cot and cup board also dusty. If you need a place to just sleep, you can consider this. Second night, we left the property, booked another hotel, we could not sleep in this room. We chose this because of high user satisfaction, no idea how that high score came from. The host was not warm or inviting, she was like robo. We also chose this, because of breakfast. She gives crossant, yogurt, eggs. We can easily arrange for those. If you are choosing this property, i would like you all to be aware of how it was like.

Clean and roomy.

The room was clean, family was nice. A suggestion would be to put some railings down at the bottom as that last stair to get the sidewalk was very slippery and i fell. Other then that it was a great stay.

Staff were wonderful. I love having access to the backyard every morning to enjoy the foliage and sunshine. Great having someone make eggs to start the day. Had shower every morning, as it was a very hot stay. Quiet and friendly atmosphere. Took long walks and the neighbourhoods were facinating. Would recommend this place to all.

The Sunshine House was very nice in a very quiet neighborhood. The host was very nice as well. Our room was great with a big king sized bed. Our only issue was we were told there no breakfast served on Sundays because it’s their day off. This wasn’t mentioned to us until Sunday morning. Plus there was no adjustments in the price without a breakfast.

Street parking, room and beds were clean and comfortable - didn’t eat breakfast but used fridge downstairs to store leftover food. Host was friendly and available for anything we needed. Would stay again. One suggestion: having a full length mirror in room would be nice.
