Duty manager Helen was very helpful, friendly and understanding. My partner struggles to walk. She uses a frame. Helen assisted her with entry and exit. As the main entrance has stairs no ramp. Helen made our stay a very positive experience. We will definitely be returning to the Adelphi, Liverpool.

Hotel needs to be closed down and revamped. It is such a great location and size, but anyone going to the 6th floor couldn't in one lift as button broken. In the other lift it didn't go to the 2nd floor, so customers had to go to the 3rd floor and walk down. I booked 3 rooms. My son's room had no hot water in the shower but he did in the sink. He also had wall paper was hanging off the wall's and the room stank of damp. My room had a random step 2 foot inside the door but generally was fine. No rooms had ceiling lights and just had side lamps you could use. In 2 of the 3 rooms guests only had 2 plugs under the TV to use to charge devices. But you had to unplug the TV and kettle to be able to use any plug.s

Pros: A beautiful historical building, friendly welcome and loads of parking for a charge of £13 a night. Comfortable bed with good cotton linen and a great shower. In a very central location for restaurants, shops and numerous tourist attractions. We were catching an IOM ferry which was an easy 15 minutes away by car. Overall fairly priced too. Cons. The website described at least 2 on-site restaurants, but there was only one serving a self service buffet, which we passed on. Glad we did, as breakfast was very disappointing. Plenty of choice, however the cooked part was all overcooked to the point of being burnt, particularly the sausage, black pudding and bacon. A shame as that was the lasting impression.

Hotel is hot and does not have air conditioning. Consistently 10 degrees warmer inside than out. Staff was clearly overmatched in doing their job. I requested an additional fan and never received it. Asked one staff member if I could add my postcards to their outgoing and they said yes, but when I attempted to drop them at the front desk they said they couldn’t. Elevator buttons did not work or worked sporadically. Beds in the room were very poor quality. Limited outlets in the room meant I had to unplug the lamp or tv in order use anything else. Tv was the size of computer monitor. Interior walls were dilapidated. Had to break paint seal on window to open as it was the only source of cooling in the room. Very bad experience, would not return.

The car park need to be tarmacked. The room decor was bland, wall paper grubby and no complimentary bottle of water to drink. I entered the Hotel bar last night and the bathroom was filthy The breakfast experience was poor - very poor range of fruit and cereals and poor quality coffee with background music that was too loud. On check out I was asked that full address be placed on my invoice which I need to claim for work purposes and was told this was not possible. I wont be back.

Did not like anything about this hotel. Check in was a bit cold and robotic. The room was in bad need of repairs. There is no A/C so they gave us a small fan which helped a little. UK in the middle of a heatwave so A/C would have been nice. The overall appearance of the room was so very rundown and not taken care of at all. A few holes and the sink taps were literally not attached so we had to hold onto the whole thing so it would come off completely. Needs a very good paint refresh and beds and pillows were so hard. The outside of the hotel didn’t feel very safe and there are homeless begging for money right at the hotel door. We were booked for 2 nights but stayed only one. The room was postage stamp small so very stuffy as well and window only opened literally a crack. Such a huge disappointment. Can’t understand the reviews that are very good…maybe they have some good rooms?? We travel a lot and are not overly fussy but this was not acceptable. This is a true honest review. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

The room was not pleasant and the hallways was not pleasant. The ceiling had damage from some kind of water leakage or moisture. The windows were awful and thank god it was so warm I didn’t have to close it and didn’t have to touch the window. The whole corridor smelled of moist building. The location was quite noisy and busy with bars, not really nice, but close to stations and not far from city centre.

Our room was very comfortable and clean. It is just such a shame that this beautiful and iconic hotel has dropped their standards. The hotel was understaffed on reception and in the dining room. The general cleanliness was lacking.

To call this hotel a bit tired would be a compliment. Completely exhausted is more appropriate. Shabby, grubby and pokey rooms which for £130 a night is truly disappointing. The shower either burnt my skin off or caused hypothermia regardless of how carefully the dial was adjusted. There were virtually no basic equipment , not even a hairdryer which was really annoying when I was going to my daughters graduation. The room was also boiling hot and the rusty window only opened a fraction. The only positive is the location which was very central and next to Mount Pleasant car park which is reasonably priced.

Beautiful building. Room was quite spacious. Bathroom looked new and had a nice big walk in shower. Tea/ coffee facilities in room . Didn’t have any food in hotel so can’t comment on that . Would stay there again

We had a great welcome from the front desk, very knowledgeable about the building and some of it's history. We loved exploring this hotel, the grandeur of the big hall's and ball room's, were amazing, so elegant and have that "WOW", it was great to explore. The only thing letting it down was the room we stayed in. The decor is tired and could do with a revamp, one window opened, but the other would not open . However the room was clean and did have everything we needed, including a fan for this hot weather. ...... and we slept well. What a lovely stay..... Thank you

The stay was for a stag weekend and is ideally placed for all local attractions, pubs, restaurants etc... However, it is in need of a serious refurbishment, as the rooms are tired, a bit shabby in parts and no air-conditioning, so was very hot even with the fan provided. All plug sockets were at one end of the room and the sleeping area had none, so fan wasn't very effective at night. There is no way this hotel is a £110 per night, which was £50 cheaper than they quoted direct. Maybe £75 at best. But we all had a great time regardless.
