Holiday Inn PORTSMOUTH, an IHG Hotel

Everything is in average. The hardware is definitely needed to be upgraded. Staff were nice. If you have plan to dine in their restaurant, be prepared to be very patient for waiting, however food was nice.

The hotel is in a good location and I found it to be spotless. The housekeeping staff were cheerful and friendly. Unfortunately I can't say the same for reception. They were so unwelcoming it made me feel really uncomfortable. They gave my daughter a key to someone else's room. The restaurant was chaotic. We ordered dinner one night. My husband's dinner was nice but my meal failed to arrive despite being asked a couple of times. They did refund the charge.

Nice dining options on site but hotel room was very dated with poor lighting. There wasn't any artwork in the room, only 4 screws where something used to hang. The phone has turned yellow with age, very limited lighting with 5watt bulbs and bathroom sink is the same size as on airplanes with absolutely NO room or counter space to put a toiletry bag down. Extremely overpriced hotel for how dated the rooms are. The woman at check-in wasn't very pleasant but the staff after check-in were much more pleasant and helpful.

Decent hotel, is good location walkable to wedding venues and outlet shopping! Very good breakfast, the bed could be a bit more comfortable though.

Holiday inn express portsmouth The bed linen was a disaster, dried blood stains on the matress cover. Yes, dried blood stains. The bathroom towels had the same issue. We spoke to the front desk who stated its cleaned outside but the person making the bed should have seen it. Not good

Hotel check in was good and staff were friendly and helpful. Corridor to room had a bad smell coming from the toilets. The room was an accessible room with accessible toilet/shower. Very dark and not much natural light. We were disappointed to be put in an accessible room. Breakfast was good and a good choice selection. Overall the stay was ok room was not worth what we paid.

I liked the location of the hotel,the room was standard size and was very small and the manager said all the rooms were the same size which was not true as I saw the room directly across from my room and it was bigger. The staff was very friendly, the food was bland.

The staff were polite and courteous. Respectful of all guests who attended the Holiday Inn.

A coffee maker and a mini fridge in the room would elevate our stay there.

Through was not as pictured it was completely outdated dirty carpet old furniture dirty grout in the showers no air conditioning told us to open a window in July.

The room was too cold( the thermostat was set way too low and could not be raised above 19*) but the drafty window did not help plus the heater was was not working. It had a broken lamp and it was worn and dated. The tv is very out of date and the room size is too small .You can hear the residents above going to the toilet while you are trying to relax in bed ! Admittedly we were on the ground floor but you should not be able to hear someone going for a pee right above you.The service at meal times was ok but we had to wait too long for the meals to arrive. There is clearly not enough staff on duty at any one time but the staff do try under the difficult circumstances and are welcoming and friendly. I think for the price that is being charged per night they need to update the hotel and sort their staffing issues.

Very helpful staff, easy flat walk to Historic Docks. The only downside was the bathroom which was extremely small. Could not stand in front of the sink. Had to go inside ways to open the door. Very disappointing.

The what was the first time it was nice but the only thing is the Wi-Fi is really really bad and room are some in the slightly wear and tear up but apart from that it was nice

The room is small.

Easy book in. Small room but adequate though the ironing board took up a lot of the wardrobe and there were no drawers only shelves. Quiet, mostly, till someone decided to rev up a vintage car with throaty engine from 6-8.30am outside our room. Breakfast choices were good but had to wait for bacon/eggs to be topped up. Bar meals were nice but we didn't eat in the restaurant or use the pool. Fantastic greek restaurant at the end of the road. El Greco's but book. It was busy.

Mediocre at best, cleanish, lifeless and in need of investment. As others have said, air con still isn’t working. Reception staff truly miserable

Breakfast very good, lots of variety, good alternative options, nice environment to eat in. Dinner very good value, mostly tasty. Service by front of house at dinner - exceptional, lovely manner and very attentive, fast service. Pool and Spa facilities okay, but could be improved aesthetically with mood lighting & music to enhance relaxing atmosphere. Jacuzzi too cold and on switch too far away, changing room floor needed cleaning. Premium room seemed very similar to standard room. Mistake made with my booking which was easily corrected, however, was still given a double instead of twin room. Bed a bit too firm and could still hear outside noise from top floor. Lovely views though across Southsea and Solent. Shower good although inside a bath. Room facilities good with complementary snacks & drinks in premium room. Very friendly front desk and spa staff. Bar and dining area nice and well kept - modern. Overall comfortable stay in nice location with very close to bus stops into Portsmouth Town and walking distance to beach and Southsea Common.
