Staff were friendly and helpful. Convenient car parking. Our room was a good size but very tired decor, dust/cobwebs hanging from ceiling, bathroom very old fashioned and in serious need of modernisation. The bedroom (Room 9) overlooked a noisy courtyard and there was music playing until at least 11pm. Breakfast was very good. The hotel also sent an unnecessarily high number of messages via Expedia in the run up to our stay which was more annoying than helpful, particularly as they didn’t display properly and were mostly trying to sell upgrades to our stay.

The hotel had everything we needed, close to the train station and numerous restaurants and retailers. However, we chose to eat our evening meal in the charming hotel restaurant. It was a delicious and plentiful, home cooked meal. Our room had a comfortable bed, lots of natural light and a large, full glass shower, which is difficult to find in conventional hotels these days. I wish to commend the hotel staff, in particular Ms. Gayle, at the reception desk, who went out of her way to return a valuable, person item, my eyeglasses. Without hesitation, she immediately put them in the mail. I received them within 24 hours, averting a holiday disaster. Thank you George Hotel, you truly made us feel at home!

Right on main street with parking at rear. Lovely big room with huge bed and Lovely big shower with a slip mat👍breakfast v good freshly made to order + continental included in room price. Lovely old Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

The location is the best. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Loved this stay. Would recommend to everyone

a bit dated but staff friendly and helpful

When i returned home, i noticed that the amount that had been taken from my bank account was more than the itemised invoice. I challenged this but was told there was nothing they can do about it. It looked as though someone had been charging drinks to my room. Very disappointed. I won't be returning.

Our room was not made up even though we asked for our room to be done the night before, when we got back after a long day out the bed was not made.

Lovely hotel with character, friendly staff, very impressed with the food. Only negative was i had to send 2 drinks back as glasses had lipstick on them. Everything else was great

Easy parking, excellent Reception staff. Room clean and comfortable. Christmas decorations in the bar/dining areas were beautiful and tastefully done. Breakfast was lovely, as were the staff, very professional and well presented. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Parking good and seemed secure, missed the part of a £3 fee when booking, maybe we overlooked. Our standard room was on 3rd floor, no lift, so wished we’d packed lighter! An old building which might explain the marked slope in the room which took some adjustment. Hot water took an age to come through. Beer great in the bar. Top notch breakfast. Very pleasant & efficient staff. Hotel enjoys great position, suited us on a long journey from the Far North….would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic hotel right in the middle of Penrith, which is a lovely town. Hotel has parking, which is really useful as it was hard to come by in the town itself when I was there. Special thank you to Petra at reception and the housekeeping team. I had accidentally left a piece of jewellery in my room at checkout. The piece of jewellery in question is very valuable, especially for sentimental reasons. The housekeeping colleague had taken it down to reception for safe keeping, but Petra had gone the extra mile to personally call me to let me know and she had even gone to the post office to post it back to my home address. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your care and grace. This shows the class of the hotel and its staff, and that you are in incredibly safe and caring hands when you are there.
