Disappointing stay raised with the manager but no meaningful resolution. The staff were friendly and the room had some positives, including clean linen, a good-sized TV and convenient parking, but unfortunately the overall experience was very poor. The hotel felt in need of a thorough clean and better maintenance. There was thick dust on ledges and surfaces, smeared glass, sticky breakfast tables, dusty artificial plants and noticeable limescale in the bathroom. The extractor fan did not work, the toilet dripped throughout the night and several holes in the shower head were blocked. The room was also uncomfortably hot despite the radiators being off and cold outside, and the soundproofing was extremely poor. We could hear ordinary conversations and other activity from the neighbouring room very clearly. Breakfast was the biggest problem. We had pre-ordered for 7:50am, but the kitchen was not properly operating when guests arrived. Our food came more than 40 minutes late, which made us late for a meeting, and my avocado on toast was served on completely untoasted bread. I raised all of this directly with the hotel before posting a review. The manager acknowledged the issues but offered no compensation or practical resolution. I replied asking how they intended to resolve the matter and received no further response. Expedia also said they could not assist.

Had a lovely welcome when I arrived and the bedroom was very comfortable. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the lady who served me was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely go again as it was easy for a solo traveller

I liked the place, big room with free parking.

Cooked breakfast was good but the buffet was very sparse. Lack of choice. All that was on the buffet was 2 cereals, tangerines a couple of yogurts, basic bread, a couple of fruit juice and a coffee machine that hardly worked. Never seen a buffet so basic

This was our third stay at The Ragged Cot and we always have a lovely time. Its position is so convenient to visit many lovely places and has good on site, safe parking. Nice cosy atmosphere with nice bar and restaurant and loads of outside areas to sit. Rooms are basic but ample, the only issue is that the bathrooms are beginning to look very tired and surprisingly there was only 2 tiny complimentary soaps - no shower/body wash or shampoo. Beds are very comfy. Staff are very attentive and friendly at all times

The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff was warm and welcoming, the drinks in the pub were fantastic (as were the other patrons).

Room 7 extractor fan not working. Both windows can’t be propped open. No mirror over desk so hairdryer cannot be plugged in near a mirror. Shower floods bathroom floor. All staff tried hard but were overstretched. At breakfast many things were only available if asked for. Evening meals not good value for money. This is not a 4 star hotel.

Very clean, quiet, nicely decorated room. Staff were friendly and it was a good breakfast - with pastries, Yoghurt and a full English on offer as well as smaller plates like eggs Benedict. We were expecting a larger/cosier bar area for drinks on arrival - but assume tables were all laid a d taken for Xmas parties

A lovely place to stay, room was lovely, evening meal was lovely, breakfast was lovely and the staff were lovely

It was a very comfortable and cosy room, friendly and obliging staff, pleasant bathroom. Would use again.
