We were generally very pleased with our stay at Out of the Blue Resort in Crete. We were kindly upgraded to an en-suite room with a shared private pool and a secluded garden with loungers. The suite was very spacious, beautifully designed, and the housekeeping was excellent.
Customer service was good, and it was easy to book à la carte restaurants. The ladies at guest services did their best to assist with reservations, and each restaurant offered a unique design, a balanced menu, and attentive service. The kids’ club facilities were also very impressive.
Entertainment, however, felt a bit underdeveloped and was not available every day. On the positive side, the spa is highly recommended, and the resort is a wonderful place to unwind. Yoga lessons were enjoyable, though offered only three times a week and scheduled at 8 am, which unfortunately coincided with breakfast time.
The beach is not the strongest point: the public sandy beach is quite narrow and lacks facilities, while the private beach has good facilities and a nice bar/restaurant for lunch but no sand (although the water was very clean).
My only real complaint is that hot drinks like coffee and tea were not included at lunch and dinner in the buffet restaurant — surprising for an all-inclusive resort. Also, the landscape is quite hilly; although golf cart service is available, it can be hard to get one at busy check-in/check-out times, and waiting can take much longer than the 5–10 minutes promised.
