Always a joy. Two night stay for work. Lovely room and a great deal through Expedia. Staff are excellent, lots of nice touches. Wonderful bed.

The location was perfect. The bar resturant had wonderful food. THe decorum was very nice. THe rooms were very comfortable and well decorated and comfortable. HTe best part was the the fantastic staff. I will be recommending this as the place to stay in Dunedin

It was clean and close and food I ordered for the room was delicious.

I really liked the hotel but we always have room to complain don’t we? Two complaints and neither fixable: first one, we had 3 very tiny windows with opaque glass. The windows were up high and we sort of felt imprisoned. Luckily we don’t spend too much time in our room. Secondly, and this ‘complaint’ refers to many hotel chains who have refurbished the insides: showers that only have partial glass. Inevitably water sprays out even when not putting the pressure on high and the floor and even towels get sprayed….annoying. But would I stay at this Fable Hotel again, yes. It was very nicely updated in so many ways while maintaining character. And the staff were warm, welcoming and professional

I will only say this: this in NOT a 5 star hotel nowhere in this universe.

Overnight before a flight out of Auckland.

No parking. I was shocked to check in and find out that unless you reserved a parking space in advance, you had to find your own street parking - that lasts 1-4 hours. I then asked about times for supper in the restaurant and was told unless you make a reservation, you were unlikely to get in. I honestly just wanted to cancel and go somewhere else at this point. I had to walk 4 blocks to constantly renew my parking, was forced to order room service if i wanted to eat at the hotel. There's no point in staying at a 5 star hotel if you have better service at a 2 star property.

This is an historic hotel full of charm.As a solo traveler, I was given a very small room but the bed was so comfortable. I was put on the sixth floor with no elevator access but I managed. The hotel restaurant was very good. There were a couple of hiccups in the staff service but I coped.

Beautiful classic hotel. Our room was on the very top floor and was tiny. The furnishings were a bit too big for the small space and made for awkward maneuvering. The wardrobe could not be opened (or effectively utilized) as the doors swung into the bed when opened, and the coffee station was positioned in front of the only window making it tough to enjoy the view. Nice room, spoiled a bit by oversized furniture.

This is a beautiful hotel in an area that still needs restoration.

The Fable Dunedin was in a great location. We were able to walk downtown and to museums and the farmers market. Our room had two windows which were up high which we couldn't look out. But we spent most of the day on tours or walking around so this was not an issue. The restaurant was very good. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant.

From the moment I checked in until checkout, the experience here was impeccable. I was greeted with a delicious ice-tea during check in, which was lovely on a very hot day. Explained how to find my room, and check-in was fast. I had prebooked both parking and dinner at the restaurant (which is a must if you want to get either). Dinner was exceptional, the wine paring recommendation was perfect. The room was clean and fresh, the bathroom was spotless and the amenities were great. The staff at this hotel really do make this THE place to stay. A little bit of a quirky hotel, but this is truly Dunedin.
