Lovely stay at the Highland, just one night as so many just waiting for the ferry the next day, stayed in one of the studios with hot tub and ate at the Terrace restaurant. All very good

We loved this hotel however, it was clearly understaffed at the restaurant. The wait was long and the servers were inexperienced. No drinks prior to our meals arriving. The food was good but the poor service put all into a bad mood. That being said, there is not a lot of choice in the small areas in the country so we considered ourselves lucky that we had a meal at all. Booking is a must.

The hotel is a few minutes walk from Mallaig train station, and the ferry terminal. There are two supermarkets and a few restaurants around the village so that one can easily get refreshments. I was amazed that the hotel is in a delicate traditional wooden decor, and has a relaxing garden terrace. I also enjoyed the window view a lot! The room was clean and it’s reception was excellent. I strongly recommend anyone who plan to visit any Hebrides islands, give the hotel a chance,.

The location is excellent and it has a good view of the sea. It is just a short walking distance to many restaurants and cafe and of course the railway station of Mallaig. We had a nice stay in this hotel.

Good stay. The hotel was very well located, just a couple minutes from the railway station. And my room had an incredible view across the Sound of Sleat to the Isles of Eigg, Rum and Skye!! Cleanliness of the room and hotel were excellent and the room was in great condition. However, my top floor room was in a converted attic: while this provided the outstanding vistas, after a warm summer day the room was extremely hot at night with only a small window that opened partially (the roof tiles retaining the heat): I recommend the hotel to provide a fan in each top floor room. Breakfast was also too expensive at £17 and a simple, cheaper continental breakfast option would be a welcome addition - there are a number of cafes nearby to get breakfast at instead.

Parking was easy. Our room was small and a bit difficult as in the eves and my husband is tall. It was clean and though the bed was a very small double it was comfortable. Reception staff didn’t engage much.. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the restaurant and the staff there were very good and chatty.

Hotellet ligger godt i Mallaigh og udsigten er fremragende.
Værelset blev imidlertid ikke gjort rent mens vi var der og vi skulle bede om rene håndklæder. Vi kan sagtens bruge håndklæder flere dage, men der var ikke noget sted at hænge dem til tørre.

Wow hillside location overlooking Mallaig port with great views across to Skye and islands. Olde worlde Highlands Hotel feel is very charming, friendly staff, super restaurant with decent menu. 1 minute drive to ferry port. Ideal.

Lovely views mostly from the restaurant. We were allowed travel a drink there after the restaurant shut but this is not usual apparently. Madness. No lift might be a problem for some.

The view of the room is excellent, facing the sea. We can watch the sunset from our room and recorded a hyperlapse video of the sunset which was magnificent. There was a problem with the shower: only hot water came out. The receptionist came up to address the problem. The plumber was called but could not come until the next day. He gave us the next room for shower, which is very nice of him.
The restaurant has good food and service, and the view is also excellent.
The building and furnishing are a little old. It will be nice to refurbish the building and rooms.
No elevators for upper floors.
