So glad we stayed here. The moment we approached the front door, we knew that we were at a special place. Incredible check-in process with a beautiful room. The woman checking us in went waaaaay beyond her job description. I'm bummed I forgot her name, but she called ahead to a restaurant she recommended and made a reservation. We also were given a complimentary welcome beverage at the lobby bar. After getting cleaned up, we went to the restaurant and the hotel had made sure that we were given a complimentary glass of champagne. The hotel is in a GREAT location as well. Some real upscale stores that are in walking distance. There were always cabs waiting which is a nice touch as well. The value of the cost was beyond fair. Stay at this hotel; you won't be disappointed

No lo recomiendo: servicio muy por debajo de un 5 estrellas y el costo de la estancia. El Hotel Emperatriz tiene instalaciones con gran potencial, pero lamentablemente el servicio no está a la altura ni del estándar de un hotel cinco estrellas ni del precio que se paga. La atención fue, en general, muy deficiente. Se salvan Ricardo, el botones, y Jorge del rooftop, quienes fueron amables y profesionales. Por lo demás, la experiencia fue decepcionante. Durante mi estancia se extravió una pulsera de oro con gran valor económico y, sobre todo, sentimental. En lugar de ofrecer apoyo o al menos una investigación seria, el personal dio a entender que yo lo estaba inventando. No hubo ni una disculpa ni ningún tipo de compensación o gesto de atención ante la gravedad del hecho. Además, a pesar de tener estatus Platinum, no ofrecieron ningún upgrade y la “amenidad de bienvenida” se limita a una tarjeta válida para dos aguas, dos refrescos o dos cervezas… una cortesía muy pobre para un huésped frecuente. No volvería ni lo recomendaría. No por las instalaciones, sino porque un hotel se define por su servicio, y aquí fallaron rotundamente.

I honestly believe that the 5 star rating is totally exaggerated. The entrance is poorly maintained, the flowers are dry and poorly maintained. The location is very nice, though. The bar area is small and limted choices.Most of the staff was kind and helpful. Ivan at the front desk was rude to my girlfriend who called from NY then he confronted me and was nasty and totally disrespectful. The manager Laura was wonderful and sympathetic ( lost my cell phone .left it inside a cab).so were Nacho, Fernando and Paula, kind and attentive. My room was very small , even though I was initially given a room with no view...in front of a wall. Upon my request, Alex gave me another room on the first Floor. However, the noise emanating from a construction job was a daily nuisance. The phone in the room did bot work, neither did the safe deposit box. The positive highlight was the complimentary breakfast that Laura offered me before my departure. The furniture in the rokm was old and cheap. Nice bathroom. Nice and practical shower features. 5 dtars??? NO WAY
