Nice hotel, friendly staff but overpriced.

We had booked as part of our trip around Sri Lanka and honestly loved every second of being there. My only criticism is the driveway to the hotel. The sandy offroad path really isn't drivable by most normal vehicles and the hotel gave no warning that we might need a different type of car to access the property. Upon arrival, we were greeted by staff to take us to reception. Check-in was super efficient and after a quick tour of the property we were shown to our room where our bags were already waiting. Wow. The rooms are amazing - huge and everything in it feels brand new. The centre point of the room is the large bed with a variety of pillows. There is a good sized wardrobe with a safe and desk area with plenty of plug points. Behind the bed is the bathroom with closed off toilet, shower and a rolltop bathtub. The lounge area of the room has a love seat and tv/speaker system and there is also a dining table by the coffee machine and well stocked minibar (which is all included in your package). Air con works well in the room and there is a fan above the bed. Each room also includes its own decent sized plunge pool and decking and we had an amazing view to the beach and sea. The hotel has a restaurant, a stunning bar with an extensive cocktail list and a sundowners bar on the beach which is open each evening. All food and drink is included in your package and the quality of the food and service is very good... there just isn't enough time to enjoy everything!

The hotel is amazing, very high class hotel. The food is like a chef restaurant so all day you have different options to eat, really nice. Yala park is nice, didn’t saw many wild animals because of the weather (rainy). Dulaj in the restaurant were very kind and lovely, He made us home filling. Thanks Chena Huts.

The best hotel we have ever stayed in. The rooms are amazing and have a private pool. All food and drinks are included and everything was top quality. Service was great. Since we were only staying for one night they offered early check-in and late check-out free of charge. Highly recommend to stay more than one night to enjoy this beautiful place.

In an amazing location with the sea on one side, and the bush on the other, the design of the huts is excellent, using natural materials but with modern facilities. The staff are what really makes this a special place, nothing is too much trouble, we particularly enjoyed the company of Dulaj in the restaurant, and Sanka on the game drives. We did see a leopard really well, and a few elephants, but our best drive was at block 5 where the bird life was amazing.

Must stay if you go to the national park! The ranger and staff are so well versed and polished. It was an experience worth while! The rooms are spacious and the food was super delicious! The spa was not upto the mark, but other than that, it was a beautiful stay for us. we wish we stayed longer

You can't quite believe Chena Huts until you go there and experience it yourself. The attention to detail and individual level of service are unlike anything we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It's just a shame we could only spend one night. The room and your own private swimming pool is just so luxurious that you forget you are there to go on safari. The only downside to our stay was that the park was closed whilst we were there for maintenance, so it was a 90minute drive to gain entry in to another sector of Yala National Park. Whilst this is a very expensive hotel, you really do walk away feeling that it was money well spent. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering it.

Our stay was beyond words. From a quick mention of our honeymoon in an email before we arrived- Chena huts did everything possible to ensure our honeymoon was one to remember including a private beach dinner with our unique menu surrounded by wild boar and monkeys- we even got a selfie with some elephants. The huts are amazing with each having its own private pool and the food and drinks are superb. Couldn’t rate Chena huts highly enough.

Close to the game reserve, but still very relaxed. Hotel staff were charming and the rooms were amazing.
